🇱🇸 Introducing the TKO Retirement Readiness Survey: Let’s start a conversation about retirement in Lesotho!
My passion for the retirement industry began in 2016 when I watched some of my friends’ parents retire after years of hard work, only to face lengthy waits before receiving their retirement benefits.
That experience left me with questions about retirement preparedness, financial security and what it truly means to be ready for retirement.
Those questions eventually inspired my Master’s research in 2018, which was later published in the Journal of Economic and Financial Services, and helped shape my career in the retirement industry.
Fast-forward to 2026, and I find myself asking new questions.
After attending several financial planning and retirement conferences in South Africa this year, I was inspired by the depth of research and data available to inform conversations about retirement.
It got me thinking: How can we build a stronger understanding of retirement readiness in Lesotho?
What influences how people prepare for retirement?
What role do financial knowledge, money habits and attitudes towards the future play?
And what can we learn to help improve retirement outcomes for Basotho?
These questions have inspired me to revisit my earlier research and take a step towards something I’ve wanted to pursue for years.
💙 I’m pleased to introduce the TKO Retirement Readiness Survey!

This is an early version, and I’m still refining it. I’d love for you to explore the questions, complete the survey where appropriate and share your honest feedback.
What works?
What could be clearer?
What important questions should we be asking?
My goal is to refine the survey ahead of an official launch in April 2027, with the hope of contributing to a better understanding of retirement readiness in Lesotho.
And who knows?
This journey might even inspire me to pursue a PhD! 🎓📚
Whether you work in the retirement industry, are preparing for retirement, have already retired, or simply care about the financial future of our country, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Sometimes, meaningful change starts with asking better questions.
Let’s start the conversation and help shape the future of retirement in Lesotho, together. 🇱🇸
