Engineering Meets Entrepreneurship: STARTGATE × Arts et Métiers campus de Rabat

StartGate organized an information session in collaboration with Arts et Métiers campus de Rabat to raise awareness among engineering students about entrepreneurship and venture creation.

The session was introduced by Mr. Mehdi Sebti and Loubna DIRAI, who set the context and framework for the discussion, and led by Zoubeir Oualalou, Entrepreneur in Residence at StartGate, who provided an in-depth introduction to entrepreneurship, sharing both strategic insights and practical perspectives on building and scaling ventures.

Students were also introduced to the various programs designed to support innovation and startup development.

To make the exchange concrete and relatable, Achraf El-Mansouri, currently operating within the startup PHOSPHATE VALLEY TECHNOLOGY , shared his journey, illustrating how technical expertise can evolve into entrepreneurial leadership and impact.

This initiative reflects StartGate’s commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students and bridging the gap between technical excellence, innovation, and venture creation.

StartGate welcomes Iberia–Morocco StartUp Connect 🤩

On February 11, 2026, StartGate, the Startup Campus of UM6P - University Mohammed VI Polytechnic, hosted Iberia–Morocco StartUp Connect at Technopolis.

Held under the leadership of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, and initiated by Glovo in partnership with StartGate, this strategic gathering aimed to reinforce technological cooperation between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.

The event brought together venture capital funds, institutional investors, incubators, high-potential founders, and representatives of the Moroccan, Spanish, and Portuguese tech ecosystems to find practical ways to work together and build sustainable cross-border partnerships.

A key highlight of the day was the pitch sessions, where advanced-stage Moroccan startups presented their solutions to Iberian and international investors, strengthening the visibility of Morocco’s startup ecosystem and unlocking new opportunities for funding and expansion.

Through initiatives such as Iberia–Morocco StartUp Connect, StartGate reaffirms its role as a catalyst, connecting startups, investors, and international ecosystems.

➖The African Youth Climate Hub - (AYCH) Incubation Program is launching its 4th edition. Led by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, OCP Group, Les Eaux Minérales d’Oulmès, and YOUNGO, this program supports young Africans committed to climate action.

Selected participants benefit from structured incubation, mentorship, and ecosystem access to turn climate solutions into scalable impact-driven projects.

➖The Tech Challenge is an open innovation program launched by UM6P - Open Innovation Hub in partnership with Attijariwafa Bank, designed to collaborate with innovative FinTech startups addressing key banking challenges, including:
- Document fraud in KYC processes
- Data reliability and quality
- Secure dynamic link management

This program offers startups the opportunity to work directly with a leading financial institution on real-world use cases.

New SkillPros Session Featuring Othman Laraki !

StartGate, in collaboration with The FORGE and UM6P Ventures, is pleased to welcome Othman Laraki on Friday, December 26th, at StartGate – Benguerir Campus.

Highlights from the Morocco FinTech Accelerator program

Last week, on October 28, 2025, the Morocco FinTech Accelerator held its second sprint at STARTGATE, dedicated to regulatory support for FinTechs and to strengthening the dialogue between innovation and regulation within Morocco’s financial ecosystem.

MFA had the privilege of hosting the three main regulators of the Moroccan financial sector, Bank Al-Maghrib, Autorité Marocaine du Marché des Capitaux (AMMC), and the Autorité de Contrôle des Assurances et de la Prévoyance Sociale (ACAPS) - MAROC), for a day of rich discussions on innovation frameworks, compliance, and FinTech enablement.

This session marks another important milestone in a journey that began with the program’s official kickoff, which brought together startups, partners, and key financial institutions to set the foundations for collaboration and innovation.

The first sprint focused on building capabilities and fostering innovation, through sessions with 1337 Coding School, one-on-one business mentoring, and the introduction of Banking as a Service (BaaS) as a new gateway to digital collaboration in finance.

Each phase of the Morocco FinTech Accelerator continues to reaffirm the maturity and growing potential of Morocco’s FinTech ecosystem, positioning the country as a regional hub for innovation and sustainable financial growth.

As the journey continues, stay connected to follow the progress of the cohort and the impact they’re creating for the future of digital finance in Morocco and beyond.

SkillPros : From Concept to Market: Accelerate Startup Innovation with Virtual Testing

Wednesday, September 24, StartGate hosted a new SkillPros session in collaboration with Ansys Africa, dedicated to exploring how startups can leverage virtual simulation to accelerate their journey from concept to market.
The session, led by Lou Major, Managing Director of Ansys Africa, and Mazen EL HOUT, Account Representative for North Africa, highlighted how simulation enables startups to:

- Test bold ideas from the earliest design stages
- Reduce risk and avoid costly prototypes
- Strengthen investor confidence by validating concepts faster
- The event brought together over 100 participants online and included both
- a Q&A session and one-to-one meetings with selected startups onsite.

Following the session, Ansys Africa launched a survey for participating startups, offering them the opportunity to access free virtual simulations, a sector-agnostic tool to help them accelerate the very first stages of innovation.
