That’s usually where the confusion begins.

Every country has different systems, different rules, different timeliness... and what works in one place may not apply in another.

The reality is:
A visa is not just a document.
It shapes how you live, stay, work, renew, and build your life abroad.

That’s why understanding the process properly from the beginning matters so much.
Personally, for every country we were interested in living in, the first two things that I researched was the weather year round and the visa or residency process.

Just a quiet moment in between work.

Building Laex Living has been full on, but I’ve learnt to slow down for the small things too... even if it’s just a bowl of blueberries and five minutes to myself.

This is real life here.
Not perfect, not staged.

Just a mix of work, home, ideas, and trying to build something meaningful in a place we now call home.

Before I moved to Morocco, even friends and family were telling me to “be careful”.

People spoke about it like it was this intimidating, unsafe place for women… and honestly, I carried some of those fears with me when I first arrived. Not much, but they were there.

But living here has been a completely different experience to the one I’d been warned about.

I’ve found kindness, community, calmness, hospitality, and a slower way of living that genuinely changed my perspective on life.

Of course, nowhere in the world is perfect, and common sense always matters. But I do think Morocco, and especially Moroccan women, deserve far better PR than they get online.

Sometimes the loudest opinions come from people who’ve never even been. 🌴🌞🇲🇦
