Advancing North Macedonia's Grid Masterplan ⚡ 💡

On 29 July 2026, COLENCO and our partner DNV successfully delivered a technical workshop with MEPSO, EBRD, and the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources of the Republic of North Macedonia within the EBRD-financed Grid Masterplan project.

🤝 The workshop presented the progress achieved under the project, including completed Adequacy and Flexibility Assessment, the preliminary market dispatch modelling, and the proposed methodology and initial simulations for the Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) of the candidate transmission projects identified through the Grid Masterplan that will support North Macedonia's future electricity network. The discussions also enabled valuable feedback before proceeding with the final phase of the analyses.

📢 The strong engagement and constructive dialogue between all participants reaffirmed the importance of close cooperation in planning the future transmission network and supporting the country's energy transition.
We thank MEPSO, EBRD, the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, and our partner DNV for the excellent collaboration, and we look forward to the successful completion of the project.

🌊 Еден од највпечатливите моменти е традиционалната староградска пловидба „Ој љубов, љубов“, кога стотици кајчиња, чамци и бродови запловуваат по езерото, исполнувајќи го со звуците на најпознатите охридски староградски песни.🎶
Свечената пловидба, која традиционално започнува од Канео и се движи кон Старото пристаниште – Островче, претставува вистински симбол на охридскиот дух и вековната традиција. ⚓

Continuing our participation at Belgrade Energy Forum – BEF 2026, representatives from COLENCO attended discussions focused on the future of energy systems, decarbonization, and regional energy security.

During the forum, our CEO, Nikola Bitrak, moderated the panel discussion “Power System Transition towards Flexible, Secure and Decarbonized Future”, bringing together key regional and international energy leaders.

The panel highlighted the growing need for:
⚡ Secure and resilient power systems
🌱 Accelerated renewable energy integration
🔋 Battery storage and grid modernization
📈 Sustainable investments supporting the green transition

The discussions emphasized that balancing energy security with decarbonization remains one of the key priorities for the Western Balkans energy sector.

The Renewable District Energy (REDE) Project team recently delivered a full-day training in Belgrade, Serbia , focused on FIDIC contract implementation, project management, and financial control.

The training brought together participants from 10 municipalities and district heating companies, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Mining and Energy 🤝

Through practical sessions based on the FIDIC Yellow Book for design–build contracts, participants explored key topics including the role of the FIDIC Engineer, risk allocation, contractual milestones, and common implementation challenges 📑

The training also strengthened participants’ capacities in project planning, progress monitoring, and EBRD financial management and disbursement procedures—supporting more efficient and compliant implementation of the REDE Project.
