Looking back on Accelerate MSCA’s participation in this year’s EARSeL 45th Symposium!

🛰️ At the successful 45th edition in Athens, the project shared its research through three presentations, a poster and the workshop “𝗨𝗔𝗩 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿’𝘀 EARSeL 45th Symposium!

🛰️ The successful 45th edition at Harokopio University of Athens (Χαροκόπειο Πανεπιστήμιο) brought together 335 participants from 34 countries over four days, featuring 240 oral talks and 95 posters.

❄️ EO-persist showcased its research and promoted the project through two posters and a workshop exploring Earth Observation, remote sensing, geoinformation technologies and AI for monitoring the European Arctic’s changing cryosphere.

🌊 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆: 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵

📣 With a slight delay, we’re glad to share that Chrysovalanta Alexopoulou and George Giannopoulos from the National Technical University of Athens completed their secondment at AgFutura Technologies in Skopje (1 July – 30 September 2026).

ℹ Working on WP7: Dissemination, Communication, Technology Transfer and Exploitation within EO-persist, they contributed to activities including work presented at EARSeL 45th Symposium.

👩‍💼 The secondment offered opportunities to exchange knowledge, engage with the host team and build professional connections, strengthening collaboration between the two organisations in an international research environment.

🌱 Proud to see AgFutura Technologies contributing to the 11th Carbonica Online Roundtable, moderated by our colleague Jovana Milosavljeva.

The discussion brought together voices from farming, industry, standards and policy, with a clear message: scaling carbon farming requires practical value for farmers, trusted support, accessible technology and credible monitoring.

🌱 Held on 30 September 2026, the 𝟏𝟏𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 brought together perspectives from farming, agribusiness, industry, standards and policy to explore how carbon farming can move from promising practices to wider adoption and measurable impact.

The discussion highlighted a clear common message: scaling carbon farming requires more than proving that individual practices work. Farmers need tangible agronomic and economic benefits, supported by practical demonstration, accessible technology, viable investment models, trusted advisory structures and credible monitoring, verification and certification.

Speakers also explored the role of farmer cooperation and aggregation, precision agriculture and digitalisation, value-chain collaboration and emerging standards in creating the conditions for carbon farming to become part of a viable and resilient agricultural model.

🚀 Final push for EO-persist!

Researchers from AgFutura Technologies are currently on secondment at the National Technical University of Athens, working closely with Professor Vassilia Karathanassi to strengthen collaboration, exchange knowledge and contribute to the project’s final activities.

As EO-persist approaches its conclusion, this secondment marks an important final stretch of joint work, knowledge transfer and research impact before the project comes to an end. 🇬🇷 🛰️

🌱 As the EU-funded Codecs project comes to an end, its final resources are bringing four years of research, Living Lab experience and agricultural digitalisation insights together.

The September 2026 newsletter features highlights from the Final Conference in Brussels, new policy briefs, tools, reports, Practice Abstracts and 20 visual stories from the Codecs Living Labs.

At Kievo Farm, grapevine plantations spraying applications fell from nine to six during the 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐒𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 pilot. 🌱

𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐒𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 was a Farmtopia Sustainable Innovation Pilot (SIP 12). AgFutura Technologies led it in partnership with Kievo Farm. It supported small and medium-sized farms growing grapes and cereals in North Macedonia.

The pilot used 𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐒 — 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦. It brought together satellite images, sensor readings, weather data and pest forecasts. This helped farmers understand their fields and decide when to act.

Farmers could choose the advice they needed and add technology step by step. The goal was to make precision farming more affordable. The pilot also aimed to help farms use resources more efficiently and cope with difficult growing conditions.
