Ranking got our blog seen. It didn’t get it picked by AI search.

So, in the latest blog, we dug into how AI search engines choose which pages to cite and which ones to skip. Turns out ranking is the entry ticket, not the whole game anymore.

Each engine reads a different web. Most sites get skipped for the same five reasons. And 80% of Reddit posts cited by AI search had fewer than 20 upvotes. They want the clearest answer, not the most popular one.

For years the scary story was that AI moves too fast for us to keep up.

But the real cost was never the models getting smarter. It was us never stopping long enough to ask whether we needed the thing we were reaching for.

Now the people who built this stuff are saying maybe we should slow down. And for the rest of us trying to use it to run a business? That sounds less like a disaster and more like a gift.

Except it didn't. When you look at what gets cited in AI answers, it's the same things that always worked: clear structure, real expertise, evidence, fresh content, and a brand people mention outside your own website.
