Are you interested in local seed systems, quality seed production, rice varietal improvement, and sustainable agriculture?

MyanSEED is inviting farmers, seed producers, agriculture professionals, youth, researchers, and other interested participants to join a practical learning and field-based event focused on strengthening local seed systems.

🌾 What will we explore?

• Understanding the importance of local seed systems and quality seed
• Rice varietal identification and field-level quality inspection
• Practical roughing – identifying and removing off-type plants from rice fields
• Seed purity and quality management
• Farmers’ knowledge and experience in local seed production
• Opportunities and challenges in strengthening local seed systems
• Sharing experiences and building connections among farmers, seed actors and agricultural practitioners

🌾 What is Roughing?
Roughing is a practical field operation in seed production where off-type, diseased, or unwanted plants are identified and removed to maintain varietal purity and improve seed quality.

• Extension workers and development practitioners

Our Green Initiative – Mushroom Eco-preneur Lab ကို လက်တွေ့လေ့လာမှု၊ အတွေးအခေါ်သစ်များနဲ့ အခွင့်အလမ်းသစ်များ ပြည့်နှက်နေတဲ့ ၂ ရက်တာအဖြစ် အောင်မြင်စွာ ပြီးဆုံးခဲ့ပါပြီ။

အတူတကွ လေ့လာ၊ စမ်းသပ်၊ မျှဝေပြီး လက်တွေ့ပါဝင်ပေးခဲ့ကြသူအားလုံးကို ကျေးဇူးအထူးတင်ပါတယ်။

💚 ဒီ Lab မှာ မှိုစိုက်ပျိုးခြင်းကို စိုက်ပျိုးထုတ်လုပ်ခြင်းအဖြစ်သာမက စွန့်ဦးတီထွင်လုပ်ငန်းတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ Circular Economy နဲ့ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ရေရှည်တည်တံ့ရေး တို့နဲ့ ချိတ်ဆက်လေ့လာခဲ့ပြီး မှိုစိုက်ထုတ် အဟောင်းတွေကို စွန့်ပစ်ပစ္စည်းအဖြစ်မမြင်ဘဲ ထုတ်ကုန်သစ်၊ တန်ဖိုးသစ်နဲ့ လုပ်ငန်းအခွင့်အလမ်းသစ်တွေအဖြစ် ပြောင်းလဲပစ်နိုင်မယ့် အခွင့်အရေးတွေကို မျှဝေပေးခဲ့ ပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် မှိုကနေ တန်ဖိုးမြှင့် ထုတ်လုပ်နိုင်မယ့် နည်းလမ်းတွေကို လက်တွေ့ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။

ဒုတိယနေ့မှာ MyanSEED Farm မှာ Mekong CONNECT Project ရဲ့ Climate Smart Technology + IoT အဖြစ် စမ်းသပ်ထားတဲ့ မှိုရုံ ၂ ခုနဲ့ Automated climate control system တို့ကိုလည်း စာသင်ခန်းအပြင်ဘက်မှာ လက်တွေ့စမ်းသပ်ခြင်း၊ လေ့လာခြင်းနဲ့ သင်ယူခြင်းတွေကို ဆက်လက်လုပ်ဆောင်ခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။ တိုက်တိုက်ဆိုင်ဆိုင် ပေါ့ - ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံ Mekong Instituteက Mekong CONNECT Project အဖွဲ့ဖြစ်တဲ့ စီမံကိန်းမန်နေဂျာ၊ ကျွမ်းကျင်သူများနဲ့ Monitoring Team တို့ရဲ့ Monitoring Visit နဲ့ ကြုံကြိုက်တာမို့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအနေနဲ့ Climate Resellience နည်းလမ်းတွေကို ဘယ်လို ဆက်လက်ပူးပေါင်းနိုင်မလဲ ဆိုတာ လေ့လာခွင့် ရခဲ့ပါတယ်။ တက်ရောက်လာသူတွေကိုလည်း သူတို့ရဲ့ အမြင်တွေကို မေးမြန်းသွားခဲ့ကြပါတယ်။

ပါဝင်ပေးခဲ့ကြပြီး Green Innovation အခွင့်အလမ်းတွေကို အတူတကွ ဖလှယ်လေ့လာခဲ့ကြတဲ့ တစ်ယောက်ချင်းစီကို ကျေးဇူးအထူးတင်ရှိကြောင်း MyanSEED အဖွဲ့က မှတ်တမ်းတင်အပ်ပါတယ်။ နောက်ထပ် ပိုကောင်းတဲ့ အစီအစဥ်တွေနဲ့ ဆက်လက်ပြီး အတူတကွ လုပ်ဆောင်သွားကြပါမယ်။

Our Green Initiative – Mushroom Eco-preneur Lab has successfully wrapped up after two days filled with hands-on learning, fresh ideas, and new possibilities.

A big thank you to everyone who learned, experimented, shared, and got their hands dirty with us! 💚

Throughout the Lab, we explored mushroom cultivation not only as a form of agricultural production, but also as an entrepreneurial opportunity connected to the circular economy and environmental sustainability. We shared ideas on how spent mushroom substrates could be seen not as waste, but as valuable resources that can be transformed into new products, added value, and new business opportunities.

Participants also had the opportunity to practically explore ways to develop value-added products from mushrooms. 🍄♻️

On Day 2 at MyanSEED Farm, we moved beyond the classroom to explore and learn from practical applications. Participants visited two mushroom houses piloted under the Mekong CONNECT Project, featuring Climate-Smart Technology, IoT, and an automated climate-control system, and gained firsthand experience of how technology can support more efficient and climate-resilient mushroom production.

The event also coincided with a Monitoring Visit by the Mekong CONNECT Project team from the Mekong Institute, Thailand, including the Project Manager, technical experts, and Monitoring Team. This created a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and explore how Myanmar can continue to collaborate on practical approaches to climate resilience and green innovation.

The visiting team also took the opportunity to hear directly from participants and learn about their experiences and perspectives.
MyanSEED sincerely appreciates every individual who participated, shared ideas, and contributed to making this Lab a meaningful learning and innovation space.

We look forward to continuing this journey together through more ideas, more experimentation, and better opportunities for green and climate-resilient businesses

Welcome to the MyanSEED Research Club!

Eight years ago, MyanSEED was established with a simple but ambitious belief: “knowledge should not only be generated, it should be shared, questioned, tested, and transformed into action”.

Over the years, we have worked with farmers, communities, young professionals, researchers, development partners, entrepreneurs, and many others. Through research, assessments, training, and field-based learning, we have seen again and again that young people have incredible curiosity, creativity, and potential to contribute to meaningful change.

And there is one idea we have been thinking about since the beginning:
What if we could create a space where young people can learn research by actually doing research together?
We have carried this idea for years.
Now, after eight years, we are finally making it happen. 💚

The Research Club is a new initiative designed especially for young people who are curious about research, social issues, agriculture, environment, communities, and the world around them.

It will be a space to:

🔎 Explore real-world problems
🔎 Think critically and creatively
🔎 Learn through collaboration
🔎 Practice research methods and data
🔎 Turn ideas into evidence
🔎 Connect research with real-world action

And we are starting with our very first workshop: THEME 1 — Participatory Action Research (PAR)

ဒီတခေါက် ပြုလုပ်တဲ့ Permaculture & Music Workshop က မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှာ ပထမဆုံးလုပ်ဖြစ်တာဖြစ်မယ်လို့ထင်တယ်။ Mother Earth အတွက် ရည်စူးတာမို့ မျှော်မှန်းထားတာထက်ပိုပြီး ကြီးမြတ်တယ် အောင်မြင်တယ်လို့ ပြောရမယ်။ ဩဂတ်စ်လရဲ့ နေ့ညဆက်တိုက် ရွာတဲ့မိုးကြောင့် ခြံအဝင်လမ်းကို လမ်းလျှောက်လာကြရတာရယ်၊ Workshop ပြီးဖို့ နာရီဝက်အလိုမှာ Offgrit မို့ ဆိုလာ-ဘက်ထရီမီးကုန်သွားပြီး သီချင်းတချို့ မဖွင့်လိုက်ရတာရယ်ကလွဲလို့ပေါ့။

I think this Permaculture & Music Workshop may have been the first of its kind in Myanmar. Since it was dedicated to Mother Earth, I would say it turned out to be something far greater and more meaningful than we had ever expected.

Apart from the fact that the continuous August rain made us walk along the muddy path into the farm, and that about half an hour before the workshop ended, our off-grid solar-battery system ran out of power, meaning we couldn’t play some of the songs we had planned to share, everything came together beautifully.

Some of the songs we were going to play were the kind of songs you would want to listen to again and again throughout your life—or perhaps listen to one last time before you leave this world. I think we’ll have to do another chapter of this journey, pyi.

A heartfelt thank you to Ko Han Lin, who was one of the key contributors.

Han Lin, whose poetry is deeply grounded and distinctive, spoke about music almost like a sermon. Through faith, connection, and music, he took us on a journey toward another world.

Ko Gwa explained Permaculture as a possible future that humanity needs to rebuild, while opening our eyes to how important music can be in agriculture—both today and in the future.

His sharing about the three-string Lisu guitar, an ancient stringed instrument belonging to his ethnic heritage, and the traditional Lisu music played during the harvest celebrations was so powerful that it gave everyone listening goosebumps.

Then came the “Research” session by Ko Sai Htet Lin Aung.

We had the opportunity to hear, perhaps for the first time in our lives, about how trees, leaves, and animals perceive and respond to music; how sound may influence their ability to resist disease, stimulate growth hormones, and affect their development.

We also learned about research exploring which types of music may support better plant growth and productivity, and which kinds of music may influence the opening and closing of stomata and the movement or responses of plant cell walls.

These were truly unexpected insights—goals scored from a completely different angle that we had never thought about before.

Among the participants were also people who did more than simply love and believe in music—they seemed to embody it.

What was especially fascinating was that, without any prior coordination, some participants began playing together in a rhythm that felt almost like a ritual, or perhaps a natural harmony.

The clapping of hands and the sound of the flute created something truly magical and unexpected.
