A New PMP Exam Content Outline (ECO) to be launched from 9 July 2026!!!
The new ECO keeps the exam organized into three domains:
People - 33%, Process - 41%, and Business Environment - 26% aligned with PMBOK 8th edition
👉 What changed most?
✅ The biggest change is the strong increase in Business Environment which rises from a much smaller share 8% to a much more 26% important part of the exam and this domain focuses on linking projects to organizational strategy, governance, compliance, value delivery, change, risk, and business impact.
✅ Predictive 40% vs Adaptive/Agile and Hybrid approaches 60%
✅ The new exam places more attention on AI, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, governance, and value delivery.
✅ The new PMP exam is expected to remain scenario-based and application-focused, testing judgment and decision-making in realistic project situations.
✅ The new PMP ECO shifts the exam toward broader business awareness, modern delivery practices, and practical decision-making in today’s project environment.
✅ What candidates should do: Study the 2026 PMP ECO first, then use PMBOK guides and other PMI resources to understand how those tasks apply in real project environments.
✅ The main takeaway is that PMBOK 6 aligns most strongly with Process, while PMBOK 7 and 8 align better with the broader intent of the new PMP ECO, especially for People and Business Environment.
👉 To all my PMP students & candidates: I already started to work on the new PMP exam course updates in line with changes listed above. I am strongly encouraging my students to take the PMP exam before the New PMP exam launch date: 9 July 2026. Good luck!!!
