Our intern from Poland, Dominika, currently pursuing a degree as Hydrographic Engineer at the University of Gdański & Naval Academy of the Heros of Westerplatte, is attending GeoHab 2026 Conference, taking place these days at the University of Malta - Valletta Campus, Malta.

GeoHab 2026 brings together scientists, students, practitioners, managers and other stakeholders working at the interface of marine habitat mapping, benthic ecosystems and seafloor geology.

We were guests of Ricca IT, a Ragusa-based company among the most innovative in the IT sector at "AI without clouds". In the presence of dozens of entrepreneurs and stakeholders, together with the partners NVidia and Lenovo, they talked to us about Arianna, the AI developed by Ricca IT, which has among its features the ability to work on promise, that is, in systems hosted by the companies themselves, offering the highest level of data security.

This afternoon, we had the opportunity to present at the 2026 ICPC Plenary in Greece. Dr Aldo Monaca delivered a presentation titled “Infrastructure Diplomacy: Paving the Way for Mediterranean Cooperation” to the plenary attendees. It was a pleasure to share our research and insights with such a distinguished audience.

The presentation focused on “The Mediterranean as a Strategic Digital Hub: Betweenness Centrality and the Governance of Critical Submarine Cable Infrastructure.”
