Some professional journeys come full circle.

Our Partner, Ivan Zammit, recently returned to Leiden for Leiden Event 2026, a special gathering celebrating Professor Kees van Raad’s remarkable 50 years of teaching international tax law.
The event was a welcome reminder that nothing quite replaces meeting face to face. A couple of focused days together can spark fresh thinking, strengthen long-standing relationships and open the door to new conversations.

Ivan returned to Malta with plenty of ideas and, after enjoying Leiden’s cooler air while Malta faced a heatwave, perhaps feeling refreshed in more ways than one.

Our warmest congratulations to Professor Kees van Raad on an extraordinary achievement. To teach and influence generations of international tax professionals for half a century at Leiden University, one of Europe’s most historic and distinguished universities, is a truly remarkable legacy.

Meet Pamela Scerri, our Client Manager and the newest face in our "Beyond the Job Title" series.

Ask Pamela what her job actually involves and she'll tell you plainly: making sure her clients' lives are easier. Keeping things organised, answering questions before they become problems, watching deadlines closely and handling whatever changes come her way. If Sheltons runs smoothly for a client, there is a good chance Pamela is the reason why.

What does she love most about working here? No long answer needed. "The people". Fitting, for someone who spends her day making sure they are taken care of.

Which makes what comes next a little unexpected. Because as much as Pamela thrives on people, clients, deadlines, hosting a full table of friends and family, she will also tell you she genuinely needs her quiet time and space. And she has found her own way to get it. Pamela used to make her own jewellery, a hobby that trades emails and deadlines for concentration but demands the exact same patience she brings to her day job.

Her next adventure is already taking shape too. Morocco is on her list and if her track record says anything, it won't be a spontaneous trip. It'll be a well-planned one.

Pamela lives by a motto that's simple to say, but not always so simple to live by: "Every day better".

Santa Marija, what is behind this Feast?

Today Malta celebrates Santa Marija (The Feast of the Assumption) - one of the island’s most important traditions.

But 15 August also marks a significant moment in Malta’s history. In 1942, during World War II, the Santa Marija Convoy reached Malta with essential supplies after a dangerous journey through enemy waters. Only 5 out of 14 ships made it through, but their arrival brought much-needed relief to the island.

Perhaps this is the greatest lesson behind Santa Marija: even in the most challenging times, resilience and unity can change the course of history.

Santa Marija week, a Maltese tradition

Celebrated on 15 August, Santa Marija is one of Malta’s most important feasts, a tradition that combines faith, community and a remarkable chapter of the island’s history. During World War II, the arrival of the Santa Marija Convoy in 1942 brought vital supplies and hope to Malta at a time when the island needed it most.

We will share more about this memorable moment in Maltese history and what lesson it taught us as a nation.
