💡 How to Choose Quality Christmas Lights That Last
Not all Christmas lights are made the same and a few simple checks can save you a lot of frustration (and blown fuses 🎄).
✨ 1️⃣ Match the wire colour to your setup
Use green wire for trees and garlands, white or transparent wire for indoor décor, and black or white wire for outdoor façades as it gives a cleaner, more professional look.
✨ 2️⃣ Choose the right wire thickness
Thicker cables (heavier insulation or higher gauge) are safer and last longer. They handle weather changes, tension, and heat much better especially for outdoor or large-scale displays.
✨ 3️⃣ Get the right light length for your tree
As a rule of thumb:
4ft tree → approx. 100–140 LEDs
6ft tree → approx. 280–400 LEDs
7–8ft tree → approx. 400–500+ LEDs
For fuller or wider trees, add an extra set to achieve even coverage.
✨ 4️⃣ Check bulb quality
Opt for sealed LED bulbs with strong connections as they’re energy-efficient, bright, and built to last season after season. Avoid push-fit bulbs that can loosen or let in moisture.
✨ 5️⃣ Don’t forget overall wire length
Measure the total run from plug to the last bulb including the lead wire so you’re not short of reach. Longer lead wires are more convenient for connecting to distant plugs.
If you’re investing in lights that will last, these small details make all the difference.
