'' This is my story, my short lived career. I fell out of love with playing football due to political reasons at each club I have been.
I can wholeheartedly say I was one of the most dedicated players in any of the teams I have been. Regardless if it was raining cats and dogs outside or just coming from 5 hour shift and school early in the morning. I was always on the pitch, setting examples for the young ones in the group.
Come game day, I was never the preferred one. Although from coaching perspective I could not offer anything physically. I was short,scared and low on confidence. But with the ball and technically I was up there with the best. I knew the game, how it should be played, Positionally sound.
Something I never had and worked to my disadvantage, Was no one to guide me. To help me during contracts, signing and discussing with clubs. As typical as every young Maltese football player, usually their Parents are their agents, advocates, physio, doctors and everything in between. Whilst I do thank my mother for all her hard work, my mother was not part of my footballing career and for this I am grateful. This created resilience, fight and hunger to prove that football is not played using fancy words and contracts. It is purely on the pitch.
Today I have founded Flare Sports Agency. A place where any football players of any background can have guidance without being emotionally attached such as Parents. Whilst I thank each and every parent for their hardwork and dedication, I will be the first to say that you are not always doing what is right for the development of your child. Short term goals are important but are they everything?
