Hello, October 🍂

There’s something rather energising about the calibre of people I get to meet through this work. Over recent weeks, conversations have taken me from AI Developers and HR Business Partners to Legal Counsel, Commercial Leaders across Casino & Sports, and CEOs, CFOs and CMOs.

Seriously good people, solid conversations and cinnamon iced-coffee perhaps? 🧡🌊
Because Malta hasn’t quite received the October memo.

Whether you are building a team now or thinking ahead, I’m always a call away 🤝

Have a lovely start to the week!

Woah. I don’t think I’ve ever looked forward to September quite this much.

That languid August furnace is finally behind us, and I’m carrying a very full cup into the new season.

If you catch me drifting between work, interviews, searches, family and life… it’s because I found the place where I take my deep breath. Like jaw-droppingly gorgeous moments that stop you in your tracks and make your eyeballs pop out of your face.

You savour them, carry them with you, and return to everything else with a little more energy, perspective and joy to give. Like, this moment right here…

I must admit, supping in the most stunning, humanly untouchable island has ruined me forever, but in a very good way 🏝️🇮🇹

So, what’s the moment you’re carrying with you from this summer - the one you’ll return to for that deep breath when you need it most?

Here’s to September. Summer is not over. The work rhythm is steady. And we’re always vibing 🌞✨

As always, an insightfully fabulous NEXT.io - The World’s iGaming Community ✨

A record-level turnout, yet still delivering content that truly lands and lingers.

Grateful to have been invited to a beautifully curated leadership session by Åkerlund. The energy in the room was something else: calm, grounded, intentional.

In moments, we moved beyond introductions and job titles into something far more real. A simple but powerful exercise: defining what success actually means to each of us. That stayed with me 🪄

The HR Connect tracks, as always, were inspiring - thank you Heidi Lofthus and all the coaches and HR leaders for holding that space so well 💫

I also stepped into Olivia Bilocca’s session on introspective leadership, and her question really stayed with me: how are we looking after the people behind the people? HR is so often seen through process and performance, but behind every decision is a human carrying other humans.

At an event full of AI, innovation, and scale, I left most inspired by something simpler: the human layer of it all. People are asking for authenticity, transparency, and space to be human - while still doing exceptional work 🏹🩰

Let’s do this 🤍

I’m glad I didn’t miss FHRD’s conference at the beautiful Xara Lodge last Friday 🌾

A fascinating legal shift is unfolding across Europe. The principle is beautifully simple: equal work deserves equal pay. It should have always been this way, is a no brainer. But it hasn’t - hence the EU Pay Transparency Directive.

Behind that simplicity sits a new level of structure:
• clear job categories
• transparent pay frameworks
• evidence-based decisions
• employee representation in larger organisations

And then there is AI: used well, it can highlight anomalies, reduce bias and give HR and leadership clearer insights. But if a model cannot explain how it reached a conclusion, fairness will rightly be questioned.

My favourite takeaway from the stellar professional panel: technology can guide us, but humanity and accountability remain ours.

Tools like JET (Shireburn’s new Job Evaluation Tool) are making complex processes and role structures, far more practical and accessible. I found the presentation empowering, without drama but with enough take aways to create solid direction. Just a thoughtful and well-supported move towards fairer, more transparent workplaces - a brilliant and easy to use plug-in away.

And where does it leave HR Leadership? Right where it has always belonged - at the heart of better business decisions.

We got here a bit before you.
Before kicks off, I had one of those moments that reminds me why I do this work ✨

Set against the elegance of , in the bubbling momentum pre-conference, I met one of my favourite founders the industry has ever seen. He is someone who trusted me to help build multiple start-ups over the years. Many of those carefully chosen people are still thriving in iGaming today, within the same business.

That is the magic 🪄 (and hard work) with embedded hiring.
I sit around HR purists, all verticals: from technical to marketing teams, right beside my fellow internal TA partners when they are stretched. Sometimes what they need is a fresh internal pair of eyes.

I challenge job specs if they need it. I challenge hiring managers if I have to. Always respectfully and with thoughtful context. It is where better hiring happens and seriously good teams are built.

If you care as much about your people as you do your business, I’m a leadership call away when hiring needs an internal perspective ☕️ ☀️

People don’t buy into companies. They buy into relationships, stories, and a little bit of magic ✨

At Your Talent Partner, the conversations go deeper than roles and titles. We explore the ‘why’ behind the business, the ‘who’ shaping it, and the culture leaders are intentionally (or unintentionally) creating.

January & February have been full in all the right ways. Honest conversations with HR Partners and CEOs about their people goals, growth plans, and the kind of environments they want to build. And where people truly want to stay.

Right now, one thing feels clearer than ever: your people are your story

If that’s something you’re thinking about too, a coffee chat might be the perfect place to start ☕🌾

Goodbye 2025 ✨ This year didn’t ask me to become more.
It asked me to focus on what matters most.

Yes. I stopped measuring success only in monetary milestones and started paying attention to what was actually happening. Work that travelled across borders and trusted instinct, connection, and alignment above anything else. Real partnerships, current and new - all of them came organically, through trust, conversations, and shared values. That’s the kind of growth I care about: where I was brought in just like an internal TA partner. Clients who were even willing to change the hiring location entirely for our hand-picked talent (a first for me) which says a lot - and literally moved my world 🌍

Alongside work, there were precious wins I’m really proud of:
🤍 Four of my poems published in the gorgeous book: Songs of Motherhood, Volume 3, curated by a very gifted writer and poet, also in our industry, Roberta Azzopardi
🤍 A business that gives me time with my two pre-teen daughters before their world gets bigger and I become way less cool
🤍 A trusted inner-circle of real connections where we vibe in warmth as hard as we hustle

This came from doing the work carefully, staying close to people, and building a business that supports my life, not competes with it. I’m not chasing louder next year. I’m just choosing deeper.

And that feels right.

Happy New Year 🤍🥂

Employment Case Law Conference, 16 years in at the stunning Xara Lodge ⚖️ ✨

Every time I attend, I’m reminded that employment law is anything but one-size-fits-all. What feels black and white usually turns into fifty shades of grey, (pun intended because we enjoy and expect these innuendos as part of their show, er, conference). Add to that a super sized bowl of question marks (assorted) and a healthy serving of “it depends”.

Case law can be baffling. Even Einstein would zone out and start daydreaming instead 😶‍🌫️

That’s why the real value comes from the experts who bring context, lived experience, real scenarios and just enough humour to keep us sane.

Leadership isn’t about memorising legislation. It’s about understanding the nuance behind it. And I enjoy every second listening to experts who help business leaders and HR partners break it down enough that it maybe actually starts to make sense.

A morning blossom to kick off Monday for you 🪻☀️

When we nurture the environment, growth becomes inevitable. A picture perfect view with all the honey-ducks in a row? It hardly ever is.

A fine line between wobble or win? Let it. Focus on your internal environment, root for yourself. Growth doesn’t always look graceful, but it’s still growth. You got this 💪🏻

What are you nurturing this week? 🌸
