It is a great pleasure to participate as a speaker at the Joint National Event Italy–Malta, taking place on 11 June at the Delegation of the European Parliament (Sala Europa) in Rome.

The event will bring together representatives from the Italian and Maltese governments, including the Ministries of Transport and Infrastructure of Italy, Ministry of Transport Malta, and Ministry of Tourism of Italy alongside research institutes, universities, regional authorities, industry stakeholders and associations.

Discussions will focus on key Blue Economy priorities, including blue-tech innovation, research and development, market uptake, sustainable shipping and port infrastructure, blue skills development, and funding opportunities supporting blue economy initiatives and projects.

On behalf of MALTAccelerate, I will present the MED-Hubs project and contribute to the “TRL 8–9 Projects Adopters” panel. Drawing on extensive experience in innovation, startup acceleration and ecosystem development, MALTAccelerate will share insights on advancing sustainability and accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions that strengthen the Blue Economy across the Mediterranean and beyond.

It was an immense pleasure to represent the MED-Hubs project at yet another key international blue economy event 🌊

The 6th International Workshop on Marine Litter Monitoring, Removal and Blue Circular Economy, organised by Venice Lagoon Plastic Free, was part of the EU Missionoceanwaters initiative and brought together a considerable number of delegates from academia, European Commission, regional and local governments, private sector and NGOs, despite the public transport national strike.

The agenda was intense including institutional contributions from the Direction Générale de la Recherche et de l'Innovation (DGRI), presentations of EMFAF, Horizon Europe, LIFE and Interreg IPA ADRION funded projects, presentations of innovative blue-tech solutions, policy roundtable, and more..

MALTAccelerate had the joy to present the MED-Hubs project and contribute its long-standing expertise in supporting sustainability and blue economy through innovation, startup acceleration, and ecosystem development across Europe and beyond.

🔊 The MED-Hubs at the EU Startup Summit 2026 🚀

On the 7th and 8th of May, thousands among start-ups founders, stakeholders, angel investors, VCs, public sector agencies, and media representatives from across Europe gathered once again in Malta 🌊

EVEN CLOSER, project co-funded by the European Union under the I3 instrument, is building a pan-European circular value chain for semiconductors – and we’re looking for experienced professionals to guide innovative startups across three key areas:
