It is a great pleasure to be speaker at the first ever Atlantic-WestMED Stakeholder Conference, where stakeholders from across both sea basins will gather to connect, exchange ideas, build partnerships and turn cooperation into concrete action.

At a time when maritime regions face shared challenges — from climate adaptation and decarbonisation to skills shortages, sustainable tourism and coastal resilience — stronger cooperation across sea basin has never been more important. The conference will bring together policy makers, academia, entrepreneurs, investors, NGOs and clusters, to explore opportunities and create new collaborations between the Atlantic and Western Mediterranean regions.

💳📱 In today's digital economy, financial literacy is no longer just a necessary skill, it's essential.

Yet across Europe, many vocational learners, entrepreneurs, vulnerable communities, NEETs, continue to face significant barriers to financial inclusion. Limited financial management skills, low confidence using digital banking tools, and unequal access to financial education leave many individuals and small businesses at a disadvantage.

🌍 That's where the Digital Financial Literacy for Inclusion and Economic Resilience (DiFiLiR) project comes in.

Led by MALTAccelerate, in partnership with Helix - Social Innovation Hub and Συνεταιριστική Τράπεζα Καρδίτσας (Cooperative Bank of Karditsa) DiFiLiR is working to bridge these digital financial literacy gaps across Malta and Greece through innovative, practical, and accessible learning resources.

By combining research, collaboration, and hands-on learning, the project aims to provide the knowledge, digital competencies, and confidence to make informed financial decisions, embrace digital financial services, strengthen business resilience, and participate more fully in today's economy.

At the end of June, the partners gathered in Karditsa, Greece, for an intensive Learning, Teaching and Training Activity, where we took the project from research to real-world implementation.
Over two collaborative days, we:

📊 Reviewed the findings from our needs assessment
📘 Validated and refined the Digital Financial Literacy Handbook
🎥 Designed engaging educational video tutorials
🧑‍🏫 Planned our upcoming pilot workshops,
📣 Mapped out our dissemination and sustainability strategy

🤝 Beyond the workshops, the training provided an invaluable opportunity to exchange best practices, strengthen cross-border collaborations, and reinforce our shared commitment to building a more financially confident, digitally skilled, and inclusive Europe.

It is a great pleasure to participate as a speaker at the Joint National Event Italy–Malta, taking place on 11 June at the Delegation of the European Parliament (Sala Europa) in Rome.

The event will bring together representatives from the Italian and Maltese governments, including the Ministries of Transport and Infrastructure of Italy, Ministry of Transport Malta, and Ministry of Tourism of Italy alongside research institutes, universities, regional authorities, industry stakeholders and associations.

Discussions will focus on key Blue Economy priorities, including blue-tech innovation, research and development, market uptake, sustainable shipping and port infrastructure, blue skills development, and funding opportunities supporting blue economy initiatives and projects.

On behalf of MALTAccelerate, I will present the MED-Hubs project and contribute to the “TRL 8–9 Projects Adopters” panel. Drawing on extensive experience in innovation, startup acceleration and ecosystem development, MALTAccelerate will share insights on advancing sustainability and accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions that strengthen the Blue Economy across the Mediterranean and beyond.

It was an immense pleasure to represent the MED-Hubs project at yet another key international blue economy event 🌊

The 6th International Workshop on Marine Litter Monitoring, Removal and Blue Circular Economy, organised by Venice Lagoon Plastic Free, was part of the EU Missionoceanwaters initiative and brought together a considerable number of delegates from academia, European Commission, regional and local governments, private sector and NGOs, despite the public transport national strike.

The agenda was intense including institutional contributions from the Direction Générale de la Recherche et de l'Innovation (DGRI), presentations of EMFAF, Horizon Europe, LIFE and Interreg IPA ADRION funded projects, presentations of innovative blue-tech solutions, policy roundtable, and more..

MALTAccelerate had the joy to present the MED-Hubs project and contribute its long-standing expertise in supporting sustainability and blue economy through innovation, startup acceleration, and ecosystem development across Europe and beyond.

On the 7th and 8th of May, thousands among start-ups founders, stakeholders, angel investors, VCs, public sector agencies, and media representatives from across Europe gathered once again in Malta 🌊
