Today, we’re introducing Barbara, Restaurant Manager on board M/S River Aria, and giving you a little insight into her journey, what makes Grand Circle Cruise Line special to her, and her advice for those starting life on board. 🚢 💙
**Q: Why did you choose river cruising as your career path?**
💬 “River cruising brings together everything I’m passionate about: hospitality, travel, meeting people from different cultures, and working in an international environment. What I love most is the opportunity to create memorable experiences for our guests and build genuine connections with them throughout their journey. It’s also an industry where I can continue learning, growing, and developing my career.”
**Q: What makes GCCL special to you?**
💬 “For me, it’s all about people and personal connections. We’re not just taking guests from one destination to another; we’re creating meaningful experiences and making them feel welcome and cared for. I also appreciate the opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues, develop new skills, and grow within the company.”
**Q: What advice would you give to newcomers joining the ship for the first time?**
💬 “Come with an open mind and a positive attitude! Be curious, learn from your colleagues, accept feedback, and take every opportunity to grow. Teamwork is essential on board — we all work towards the same goal: giving our guests the best possible experience. And remember, what feels like a new workplace at first can eventually become a second home, filled with friendships and a real sense of belonging.”
