My current favourite — these Optical Calcite rhombohedrons are so mesmerising!
These pretty stones have a really cool history too.
Optical Calcite, or Iceland Spar, is a transparent variety of calcite.

A piece was found on an Elizabethan ship that sank in 1592 off Alderney — Vikings likely used it to navigate even after compasses existed 🧭

It’s famous for birefringence: it splits one ray of light into two, so everything you see through it doubles.

Energetically, it connects to the Third Eye + Crown chakras, amplifying intuition and spiritual insight. It also promotes forgiveness by helping you see multiple perspectives.

La calcite optique, ou spath d’Islande, est une variété transparente de calcite.

Un fragment a été retrouvé sur un navire élisabéthain coulé en 1592 au large d’Aurigny — les Vikings l’utilisaient sûrement pour naviguer même après la boussole 🧭

Elle est célèbre pour sa biréfringence : elle divise un rayon de lumière en deux, donc tout apparaît en double.
