Mauritius made its case as a gateway to Africa at BIG 2026 in Paris. ✨

Philippe Espitalier-Noël, CEO at ER Group, and Kabir Ruhee, CEO of Rogers Capital, attended as guests of Bpifrance, France’s leading public investment bank, at the invitation of its CEO, Nicolas Dufourcq.

Now in its 12th edition, BIG is the bank’s flagship gathering of entrepreneurs, held this year under the theme “Culot”, the nerve to take one more risk when the stakes are already high. More than 80,000 founders and investors filled the Accor Arena for over 500 sessions.

Philippe, who also chairs the Sustainable Development and Inclusive Growth Commission of Business Mauritius, met Éléonore Caroit, French Minister Delegate to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, as well as investors and members of the Alliance des Patronats Francophones, where he has served since 2024 as Ambassador for East Africa and the Indian Ocean. Together with the Alliance, he looked ahead to the next Rencontre des Entrepreneurs Francophones, which Mauritius will host in September 2027.

Kabir spoke on two high-level panels alongside African business leaders and MEDEF representatives. The first explored investment opportunities in East Africa through the Mauritian financial platform. The second looked at the island’s development model and its role as a gateway to the continent.

For ER Group, Paris was one more step in connecting Mauritius to those shaping Africa’s growth.

ER Foundation held a closing ceremony to mark the completion of the training phase of its agroecology project at La Ferme Nou Leritaz in L'Escalier. Launched in February 2025, the training benefited over 30 people in the region. 😊

Delivered with i61 Foundation and Nou Tou Ansam-Maison Communautaire, and supported by the MOL Charitable Trust, the project trained 14 families in agroecology, gave 6 households their own cultivated plots, introduced 110 children to organic planting and animal rearing, and enabled 4 community members to take up sustainable farming. 🌱

For participants, the shift is tangible: families have moved away from pesticide-heavy practices, and the plots they now work on have become a source of income. Though the closing event has taken place, sessions at La Ferme Nou Leritaz continue. ✨

The initiative forms part of ER Foundation's Community Infrastructure Creation programme and contributes to the Inclusive Development pillar of ER Group's sustainability strategy.

Axess holds over 25% of the new-vehicle market in Mauritius. Today, its ambition goes well beyond simply selling vehicles.

With the recent introduction of XPENG Mauritius and a new showroom at Bagatelle Motorcity, the company is expanding its intelligent, connected mobility offer, built on technology customers can trust. Under ER Group's Sustainable Finance Framework, it aims to raise electric vehicle sales from 0.9% in 2025 to 10% by 2031.

In this interview, Stéphane Chasteau de Balyon, Managing Director, explains how Axess stays selective rather than reactive by identifying the technologies, brands, and partnerships that will shape the future.

Oficea has completed a MUR 3.4 billion Sustainability-Linked Bond, the first transaction under our Sustainable Finance Framework. Rated A by CARE Ratings and 1.5 times oversubscribed, it will help fund The Grid in Telfair, move existing offices towards LEED certification and ensure new ones are built to LEED standards from the outset.

The targets are clear. Oficea is aiming for more than 70% of its buildings to be green-certified by 2030. Across the Group, we are driving 50% of our commercial rental portfolio towards recognised green building standards by 2031.

Our Sustainable Finance Framework has delivered its first transaction. On 24 September 2026, Oficea, a subsidiary of ER Property, completed a MUR 3.4 billion Sustainability-Linked Bond issuance, advised by MCB Capital Markets.

ER Group, in collaboration with ER Hospitality and Agrïa, is proud to partner with the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), through its Madagascar and Indian Ocean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot (MADIO) Small Grants programme, to restore Cascade l'Exemple, a priority site within the Jacotet River watershed in Bel Ombre, Mauritius.

Working alongside conservation and ecological partners, the project aims to preserve native habitats and strengthen the health of the river ecosystem, protecting a landscape that plays a vital role in Mauritius' biodiversity. The work is already underway: mapping invasive species, growing endemic seedlings, and replanting riverbanks to protect the water and wildlife this landscape depends on, to reduce invasive species cover by 50%. A 700-metre botanical trail, including interpretive signage, is also being created, allowing visitors and the local community to follow the site's restoration.

This initiative is a continuation of the Regenesis restoration programme and supports the biodiversity pillar, which forms part of ER Group's Sustainability Strategy.

Turbine marked its tenth anniversary this year with the launch of the Innovation Challenge 2026, themed Harnessing AI for a Sustainable Mauritius. Since 2016, the incubator, part of ER Group, has reviewed more than 1,000 project applications, guided over 150 entrepreneurs through pre-incubation, and helped 35 startups establish their businesses.

Selected participants will benefit from an intensive two-month programme of tailored workshops and coaching sessions, with opportunities to collaborate with companies in the ecosystem.
