Personalized license plates: The annual fee will apply only to new applications.

The introduction of an annual fee for personalized vehicle registration plates will apply only to newly issued personalized plates.
This clarification was provided by the Minister of Transport, Osman Mahomed, in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
He stated that motorists who already possess personalized registration plates will not be affected by this new measure.
As a reminder, the announcement of this annual fee in the 2026–2027 Budget generated considerable criticism.
