Today Micromek Launched it's Drones4STEM short training at soche Hill secondary school's in Blantyre Malawi. aiming to reach out 20 Girls one week period with skills in new and Emerging Drone Technology including Drone Building & Assembly, piloting, Drone Data analysis with GIS and one Health, CAD and Entrepreneaurship. We so much appreciate the Soche Hill Administration for this Collaboration

This week team MicroMek is in Nairobi , Kenya , attending the Segal Family Foundation as a partner. The annual conference brings together Doers like MicroMek , and Impact investment Partners. It’s been a week full of impactful connections & networking , learning and getting fired up by a diverse background of African Visionaries , Social Entrepreneurs and Change makers. It’s been amazing listening from different impact investment partners and what makes them want to Partner.
The experience shared is vital for MicroMek’s work as we locally build Drones for delivery of medicine in hard to reach areas of Malawi , & Providing STEM education to Malawian youths .

This week MicroMek is at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya ,representing Malawi as one of the Youth led Innovators invited to showcase our locally built Drones for delivery of medicine in hard to reach areas .

The Africa Forward Summit 2026, hosted jointly by Kenya & France, brings together Heads of State, business leaders, & innovators to forge a new partnership built for innovation & growth .

MicroMek is on mission to revolutionize the public health supply chain through Innovation & doing this through : (1) Physically building advanced autonomous delivery aircraft locally (2) influencing policy through high level dialog & advocacy for integration of Drones into Public Health Supply chain. 3) Building a local capacity of Malawian youths as developers of hardware Tech through STEM Education.

Today our Founder Dumi Kaliati had the Privilege to join a private delegation meeting led by Dr George Chaponda , Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Malawi at the Icon hotel , Nairobi.

Looking forward to more meaningful engagement as the week starts.

This week Team MicroMek is in , Kenya, pitching , as Top 5 Drone startup finalist of the Innovate Africa Challenge on Civil Drones . The challenge is implemented by the GIZ through the Triagular Cooperation for Digital Innovation project, in partnership with Smart Africa & Impact Hub Berlin. It aims to catalyze inclusive, data-driven solutions by empowering innovators in the Drone industry to develop & scale impactful Solutions. Today MicroMek will be pitching it’s locally built autonomous VTOL fixed wing Drones made from 3D printed parts & recycled materials that are being tested for the delivery of medicine for young children & pregnant women in hard to reach areas of Malawi.

The innovate Africa Challenge on Civil pitch event is happening alongside the Global Conservation Tech & Drone Forum.

Youth Take the Budget Conversation Head-On at Youth-Focused Pre-Budget Consultation

On Monday, 20th January 2026, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, in collaboration with the National Youth Council of Malawi, convened the much anticipated Youth-Focused Pre-Budget Consultation, bringing young people into direct dialogue with government on national priorities ahead of the 2026/2027 budget.

The consultation attracted over 100 youth leaders from across the country, including entrepreneurs, tech experts, university students, innovators, creatives, and youth network leaders. Participants engaged the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, Honourable Joseph Mathyola Mwanamvekha, MP, in a rare national platform that reflected the current administration’s growing commitment to youth inclusion in decision-making and responded directly to His Excellency President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika's call for youth to be actively involved across all sectors of the economy...
