State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has issued an executive order mandating all public places, including schools and workplaces, to have hygiene and sanitation facilities.
It states that all public places such as markets, bus depots, car parks and other recreational facilities shall have waste disposal facilities, as shall venues for public gatherings.
Executive Order Number 2 of 2026 further directs schools and workplaces, whether public or private, to provide waste disposal facilities.
