We are participating at the Energising Development Malawi (EnDev ) Impact and Portfolio Development Dialogue. The event is part of the EnDev programme closure with a transition to of the next regional EnDev Programme - Engage that will cover 6 countries. The EnDev programme worked with farmers, enterprises and public institutions to accelerate the adoption of productive use of solar technologies, raise awareness and improved access to finance through the Result Based Financing Model.

UMODZI Consulting will be attending the maiden Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Business Development Service Providers Association on 16 October 2026.

This inaugural AGM comes at an important time for the Business Development Services (BDS) sector in Malawi, following the enactment of the new MSME Act, which provides for the certification of BDS providers by Government before they can provide business advisory services.

This presents an important opportunity for BDS providers to come together and contribute to the professionalisation, regulation and development of the BDS industry in Malawi.

We encourage all BDS practitioners and organisations to register and be part of this important movement. You can register now by scanning the barcode on the attached flyer or by using the contact details provided on the flyer.

Our Managing Director, is currently serving as the Interim Board Chairperson and will hand over the leadership mantle to the person elected at the AGM.

We therefore encourage members to actively participate in the governance of the Association. Please feel free to contest for any of the available positions — including the position of Board Chairperson.

Last week, we had a successful review meeting with GOPA AFC team on IYBA WE4A Programme. The review focused on the milestones achieved so far and planning for business coaching sessions and pitching events. Though this program, UMODZI Consulting is supporting women-led MSMEs in Sustainable agriculture and agro-processing; Renewable energy; Circular economy and waste management; Eco-tourism; Blue economy and aquaculture in enhancing their capacity to operate competitively, expand market access, and implement sustainable business practices.

It is amazing to finally meet in person budding women entrepreneurs in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and sustainable building materials under the Investing in Young Businesses in Africa – Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (IYBA WE4A) programme which is being implemented in Malawi by GIZ through GOPA. UMODZI Consulting is one of the enterprise support organisations delivering a range of capacity building interventions such as training, coaching, business networking and linkages and facilitating access to finance. Today's event is an opportunity to the Tony Elumelu management team to interact and verify the enterprises the organisation is supporting and for the enterprises to interface with TEF alumni. The climax of the event was hearing testimonies from both current enterprises and TEF alumni on the programme impacts. Let us empower women to fight poverty and inequality.
