Staff Spotlight Thursday | Meet Elias Nickson

Today, we shine the spotlight on Elias Nickson, our dedicated General Labourer whose versatility and hands-on expertise keep things thriving on our Aquaponic For Life farm.
Elias brings a diverse range of practical skills to our work including landscaping, building, well construction, plumbing, fish harvesting and pond management.
In addition, he is also one of our labourers who supports our team during the construction and installation of aquaponic systems.

Our Generation Game Changers are making great progress in their horticultural gardens! They planted the vegetables and you can see how well they are nurturing the plants. The young farmers are definitely learning and applying essential crop management skills.

This week on our Generation Game Changers (GGC) spotlight, meet Hosea Jameson
Hosea Jameson is a 13 year old Standard 5 learner from Chaseta Village. Hosea has great passion for farming.

His passion for farming grew through his participation in our GGC program run by our sister organisation, Greenfood for Life. He began his aquaculture journey by stocking a shallow fish pond with 11 tilapia. Unfortunately, the fish died because the small, shallow pond required frequent water additions, which stressed the fish. Now, the pond has dried up.

Today, he continues to nurture his love for agriculture through horticulture and landscaping. He is currently growing Chinese and he also enjoys raising beautiful flowers and creating attractive landscapes.

Looking ahead, Hosea plans to construct a larger and deeper pond that will provide a better environment for fish, and this time he hopes to stock it with catfish. Beyond fish farming, he also plans on expanding his horticulture farm with onion and potatoes.

Hosea dreams of studying at LUANAR. He also hopes to open an organisation that will support orphans and street children, using agriculture as a tool to transform lives.

Keep growing, Hosea! The GGC family is cheering you on every step of the way.

Weekend Sports Tournament Highlights! ⚽🏐

This past weekend, our Generation Game Changers came together for an exciting sports tournament. From football to netball, our young people gave it their all and proudly represented the spirit of the programme.

⚽ GreenFood FC fought hard but came with a draw, 1-1, in their football match.

🏐 Our GreenFood Netball Team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a remarkable 27-10 victory!

Congratulations to both our teams for their determination and excellent teamwork.

Win or lose, we celebrate the courage to compete, the friendships built and the valuable lessons learned through this experience. Here's to many more victories on and off the field Generation Game Changers!🔥Go GGC Go. Learn, Grow, Transform!

Tanazio is a true team player who is always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it is needed. From maintaining our gardens and landscaping the farm to caring for trees and supporting operations across different sections, his versatility and strong work ethic make him an invaluable member of our team.

We were delighted to host learners and teachers from Dambo FP School for an educational tour of our farm. They explored our hatchery, aquaponics system, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) breeding unit, the fish pond and our horticulture section, gaining hands-on insights on sustainable agriculture and aquaculture.

Thank you Dambo FP School for visiting us. We hope the experience inspired the next generation of innovators and environmental stewards!
