POSITION: PRINCIPAL INTERNAL AUDITOR (MA)

The officer will be reporting to the Executive Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Preparing Annual Audit Plan and budget
•Supervising and coordinating internal audit and its services
•Conducting Fraud Investigation.
•Submitting quarterly functional reports to the Board
•Monitoring payments at DEMS and Police Officer-in Charge offices
•Conducting financial, operational, pertormance and compliance
audits
•Checking compliance with internal control procedures, Conditions
of Services, MANEB Act and financial regulations such as Public
Financial Management Act, Public Procurement and Disposal of
Assets Act.
•Allocating and supervising work of the Internal Auditor and Assistant
Internal Auditor
•Monitoring implementation of the audit recommendations
•Verifying debtors and creditors ledger accounts
•Reviewing audit working papers by Internal Auditor and Assistant
internal Auditor
•Preparing ad hoc and monthly reports
•Attending and observing stock taking procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Must have a minimum of Bachelors Degree in Accountancy or its
equivalent from a recognized public institution.
•Minimum of four (4) years of working experience as an Auditor in
a reputable organisation Must be a member of Insttute of Internal Auditors (IA)
•Abilities, attributes and skills
•Ability to work with minimum superVision
•Must be of high integrity and trustworthy
•Must be able to pay attention to detail
•Must have communication, computer and analytcal skills.

MUBAS will be conducting a study titled IMPALA (www.projectimpala.org/), in
collaboration with its national (including the Kamuzu University of Health Science, KUHeS) and international partners (including Amsterdam Institute of Global Health, AlGHD).

OVERALL PROJECT AIMS OF IMPALA
The IMPALA project aims to improve the suitability of a patient monitor developed for paediatric patients in Malawi. During the project, the data from two clinical- and several
usability-studies will be applied to further improve the monitor and its acceptability.

The project will be performed by a multidisciplinary consortium with partners in Malawi (KUHeS, Training and Research Unit of Excellence), The Netherlands (AIGHD, National eHealth Living Lab and GOAL3 BV), and the United Kingdom (Imperial College London).

The project is funded by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership, EDCTP. The overall goal of the IMPALA project is to reduce in-hospital mortality in children in Malawi by improving early detection of critical illness, allowing timely life-saving treatment.

The IMPALA project seeks to recruit two competent and dynamic individuals who are willing to pursue a Master of Science programme tenable at MUBAS or KUHeS. The
areas of the research programme will generally be in medical devices, and specially will include quantitative and qualitative analysis of human factors for medical devices and medical signal processing and analysis.

Possible choices of programmes include MSc in Bioinformatics (KUHeS), MPhil in Applied Sciences (MUBAS), and MSc in Infrastructure
Development (MUBAS).

The successful candidates will be offered a scholarship under the IMPALA project. They will contribute scientifically at a master's level by demonstrating appropriate leadership
in medical device usability analysis and medical data acquisition and processing, including publishable manuscript writing. They will liaise closely with the principal investigators/academic supervisors locally and internationallyand will be required to spend considerable time at the study sites.

The Master of Science trajectory will be embedded in the MPALA project, an exciting multidisciplinary research project at Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH) and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Malawi.

The program will be for two years and will lead to an award of a degree upon fulfilling the academic requirements.

Details of the programme are as follows.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Perform usability evaluation studies of the IMPALA monitor
•Monitor the device during clinical trials at ZCH and QECH
•Collect and analyse usability data of the IMPALA monitor. Such data might include social and technical (hardware and software) aspects of the device and vital signs data.
•Report the device performances such as alarms, faults, and user experiences
•Train and supervise clinical personnel during usage of the IMPALA monitor
•Facilitate transcription and translation and ensure the preservation of high-quality data
•Ensure data security, including confidentiality and safe backup.
•Ensure ethical conduct of research and support ethics governance, including dcumenting informed consent and organising the protocol study file,
•Interact closely with team members to develop a thorough understanding of relevant study procedures and processes.
•Disseminate IMPALA research findings using appropriate media.
•Make presentations at conferences or exhibit IMPALA work at other appropriate events.
•Monitor and communicate progress, maintain a work plan, and ensure timely ex*****on of tasks during the study.
•Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time by the IMPALA project team.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
•At the minimum, the candidate should have at least a second class of any of the following qualifications: BSc in Biomedical Engineering, BSc in Biomedical Sciences, or BSc in
Electronics/Electrical/Computer Engineering. Those with experience working in clinical settings, particularly in developing and implementing new (medical) technologies will have an added advantage. The candidate should have excellent spoken and written English and Chichewa.

The post of Country Manager at BPF Malawi is a very challenging and exciting portfotio requiring
the services of a dynamic and self-driven, versatile, multi-skilled, highly motivated and pragmatic
individual who is ready to pursue and deliver results irrespective of the size of the resource envelope and
any operational chaflenges at the Foundation.

OVERALL PURPOSE, REPORTING LINES AND SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Chairmian of the Board the Country Manager will provide overall strategic leadership and managerial direction for BPF Malawi and lead the NG0 onwards and upwards at a time of significant change and challenge.

ROLE AND SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, high-level responsibilities of the incumbent are summarised as follows:

1. Leadership and Strategy
•Project and HR Management;
•Partnership; and
•Stakeholder Management.

CORE CANDIDATE (QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE) COMPETENCIES/ ATTRIBUTES
The position requires a highly motivated person with the following core attributes:

•University Degree in Social Work, International Relations, Administration or related subject;
•Previous work experience with young
persons, within an NGO environment and/or international development, preferable;
•Self-motivated, ambitious and driven individual with a proven track record demonstrating ability to deliver projects is essential;
•Experience in project management and/or team supervision;
•Strong financial acumen; experience with preparing and managing budgets/forecasts whilst ensuring strong financial controls are implemented;
•Knowledge of computer packages: Excel, Word, Power Point;
•Ability to work autonomously with ease of expression, clarfty of ideas, ability to work under pressure and in a team
•Proficiency in the English language and strong communication skills are essential;
•Having a vakd driver's ticense is preferable;
•Availability to travel occasionaly within the project coverage area, and
Representation experience, including public speaking.

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) is a parastatal organization established by an Act of Parliament to conduct such academic and other examinations at the conclusion of any approved course in Malawi as it may be considerable in the public interest and award certificates to successful
candidates in such examinations.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, highly motivated, team players and results driven candidates for consideration to fill the following positions:

POSITION: PRINCIPAL EXAMINATIONS LOGISTICS OFFICER (M4)

The officer will the reporting to the Chief Examinations Logistics Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Supervising registration of candidates for examinations in liaison with Computer Services Department
•Laising with Level Officers on solving registration queries and providing timely responses on the queries to clients.
•Ensuring provision of logistics for administration and marking of
examinations
•Liaising with Level Officers on preparation of programmes and
budgets for delivery, collection and marking of examinations.
•Coordinating invitations to markers and updating of the markers list
•Coordinating and liaising with Level Officers on Delivery and
collection of examinations
•Liaising with Level Officers on drafting and implementing annual
work plan for Section.
•Liaising with Corporate and Security Departments on identification of
marking centres for examinations
•Monitoring implementation of sectional Budgets
•Participating in vetting and recommending to Management on DEMS submissions of invigilators and supervisors for administration of
examinations
•Monitoring coordinating and providing progress reports on sortingof
•Scripts and marking of examinations
•Coordinating solving of examinations results queries and timely provision of responses on the same to clients
•Liaising with Level Officers on preparing arrangements for marking of examinations
•Supervising and appraising staff in the Sections.
•Coordinating preparation of briefing programmes for national examination administrators.
•Coordinating preparations of monthly reports for the Sections.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•Must have Bachelor's Degree in Education or any other related field
from a recognized institution of higher learning.
•Must have at least four (4) years' relevant work experience in a
reputable organisation Requisite knowledge, attributes and skills
•Must be of high integrity and trustworthy
•Must be able to pay attention to detail
•Must have communication, computer, numeracy and analytical skill.
