Malawi has the highest petrol price in Africa at USD 3.83 per litre, nearly double that of Zimbabwe at USD 2.08 per litre, the second most expensive country on this list of Africa's top ten highest petrol prices.
The gap is most likely driven by limited forex availability, import costs, and global supply chain pressures. Since Malawi is landlocked and imports all of its fuel, every litre purchased draws directly from the country's foreign exchange reserves.
