Visit by the Minister of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism, Hon. Simon Itaye.
- 2 weeks ago, Hon. Simoni Itaye visited Perisha to 'appreciate' our work in processing cassava and sweet potato.
- We have met and talked to various Ministers, and we can tell you, 'these people are intelligent and have alot of data' but Hon. Itaye is different.
- As Paul Gondwe Jnr- Young Farmer was explaining our processes, the Minister stopped him and said, 'Why are you just talking, am here to see how you actually process' and quickly, we got some cassava and started production with him right there.
- This man actually knows about cassava processing because he worked with ' NAMPAC ' back in the days and had many business oriented questions, 'Whats your production costs per kg/ton and packets you sell per month?' etc🤗. As we answered, he was moving his head, making calculations and began explaining our profit margins and concluded, 'You need investors'.
- He talked not to appease us but to enlighten us and open our eyes further, anachita kunena kuti, "You need to expand' and thus right there, he talked with his PS, Dr Molande kuti within 2 weeks tikhale kuti takumana nawo a PS and we have a way forward in regards to finding ma investors and scaling up our business kuti someday, we should also be exporting cassava starch to the global world.
- Ayi ndithu, from that day, meeting yina yatheka and we have potential investors we will have to talk to lining up.
* Ena mwina you have recently followed us, Paul pitched our business last year seeking funding or investment opportunities of not less than MK200 million, to scale up our production capacity kuti within 2-3 years, we should be buying 50-70 tons cassava per week alimi muzakondwe zedi *
