Most fresh milk sold across Canada comes from Canadian dairy farms, but imported dairy products can also be found on store shelves. So how can you tell what you’re buying? 🛒🍁

One of the easiest things to look for is the Dairy Farmers of Canada Blue Cow logo. Products carrying the logo are made with 100% Canadian milk and milk ingredients. 🇨🇦🐄

Country-of-origin information can also help when buying imported cheeses and other packaged dairy products. Meanwhile, labels such as “Made in Canada from domestic and imported ingredients” mean exactly that — the product was made in Canada using a combination of Canadian and imported ingredients.

Processed foods can be trickier because ingredients like whey powder, milk protein concentrate and modified milk ingredients don’t necessarily reveal their country of origin.

🇨🇦💼 Canada updates rules for hiring low-wage temporary foreign workers.

Employment and Social Development Canada has updated its Temporary Foreign Worker Program guidance, potentially giving employers with multiple small work locations more flexibility when hiring through the low-wage stream.

Under the updated approach, locations with fewer than 10 employees can generally hire one low-wage temporary foreign worker per site, while eligible in-demand sectors may be able to hire two. 👷‍♂️🏗️

Employers must still meet TFWP requirements, including obtaining a positive or neutral Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), meeting wage rules and fulfilling their responsibilities toward foreign workers.

The change could be particularly significant for businesses operating multiple small locations and struggling with local labour shortages. 🍁

The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band has been crowned the 2026 World Pipe Band Champion in Glasgow, Scotland, capturing the prestigious Grade 1 title at Glasgow Green. 🎶🔥

Competing against the very best, the Canadian band emerged victorious at an event featuring 211 bands from 14 countries. The achievement also marks the first time in 16 years that a band from outside the United Kingdom has claimed the championship. 🇨🇦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The break didn’t last long, as new lightning-sparked fires appeared afterward, but the milestone highlights just how dramatically this year’s wet conditions have reduced wildfire activity compared with recent seasons.
