1. A 5-minute a day gratitude journal can increase your long-term well-being by more than 10% (Happier Human, 2018)

2. Keeping a gratitude journal caused participants to report:
o 16% fewer physical symptoms
o 19% more time exercising
o 10% less physical pain
o 8% more sleep, and
o 25% increased sleep quality (Happier Human, 2018)

3. A gratitude journal lowered depressive symptoms for 30% or more for as long as the practice was continued (Happier Human, 2018)

4. Gratitude promotes forgiveness

5. Grateful people are less inclined to feel resentment and envy.

Having an attitude of gratitude doesn’t cost any money. It doesn’t take much time. But the benefits of gratitude are enormous.
Gratitude makes us feel more gratitude. It is a positivity loop that increases this feeling over time.

This is why a five-minute a week gratitude journal can make us so much happier. The actual gratitude produced during those five minutes is small, but the emotions of gratitude felt during those five-minutes are enough to trigger a grateful mood - Gratitude triggers positive feedback loops.
