The CISS is currently made of social security institutions from 36 nations in the Americas and the Caribbean. The membership is divided into full members, associates, and adherents, according to their responsibility for the administration and / or study of social security. Since the beginning of the CISS in 1942, the membership has formed a true network of regional cooperation that today is compos

ed of more than 75 institutions located throughout the hemisphere. The structure of the CISS is constituted by 16 statutory bodies whose main function is to promote a comprehensive social security agenda in the continent: The General Assembly, The Standing Committee; The General Secretariat; The Comptroller; The Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies (CIESS); Six American Social Security Commissions (CASS); And five Subregions (Andean, Central America, Southern Cone, United States, Canada and the Anglo Caribbean, and Mexico and the Latin Caribbean).
