This month, Catalan products are taking over Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz. 🇲🇽

Catalan Food PRISSA — the largest Catalan food promotion ever deployed in the Mexican market — is live throughout May, bringing Catalan olive oils, wines, charcuterie and gourmet products to the shelves and restaurants of PRISSA, Mexico's leading gourmet distributor with over 30 years in the market.

And it goes beyond the shelf. Three PRISSA restaurants are running a full Menú Catalunya this month — dishes built entirely around Catalan products, designed to show Mexican diners exactly what this cuisine tastes like at its best.

The initiative is backed by a full institutional delegation led by Catalonia's Minister of Agriculture — with meetings at the highest levels of the Mexican government to open new commercial doors for Catalan producers.

In the last two years alone, Catalan food exports to Mexico have hit historic records.

Barcelona just hosted the world's food industry — and Catalonia showed up in record numbers. 🌍

Alimentaria 2026 wrapped up last week celebrating its 50th anniversary, welcoming over 3,300 companies from 70 countries and more than 110,000 trade professionals across four packed days at Fira de Barcelona. ✨

And Catalonia? A historic high. Over 220 Catalan companies took part — 94 of them united under the Espai Catalunya, coordinated by Prodeca.

From extra virgin olive oil and charcuterie to artisan cheeses, seafood and plant-based innovation — the full richness of Catalan food on one stage, in front of buyers from across the globe. 🍎

A few days ago, Girona became the home of cheese lovers with the Formatgem! – Artisan and Catalan Cheese Forum, a vibrant festival‑style event dedicated to the rich world of Catalan artisan cheese. 🧀

From guided tastings with the makers themselves to discussions on the future of artisan cheese, the forum highlighted the diversity, tradition and creativity of Catalonia’s cheese culture.

With demonstrations, pairings (including cheese & local wines 🍷), workshops and even creative challenges, Formatgem! showed how deeply cheese is rooted in Catalonia’s gastronomic identity — from pasture to plate.

This morning, Catalonia officially opened the 9th European Young Chef Award!

Young culinary talents from across Europe gathered at EUHT StPOL in Sant Pol de Mar for the first day of competition — celebrating tradition, innovation and sustainability as part of Catalonia, World Gastronomy Region 2025.

Among the finalists is Catalonia’s representative, Ànakin Rivera, showcasing the creativity and identity of our cuisine on the European stage.

The winner will be announced tomorrow — stay tuned to find out who will become Europe’s next Young Chef!

We are proud to announce that 20-year-old chef Ànakin Rivera has been selected to represent Catalonia at the European Young Chef Award 2025.

An alumnus of EUHT StPOL and currently working at the renowned Arzak under Chefs Elena and Juan Arzak, Ànakin stood out for his creative dish honouring his home region of Maresme and his commitment to Zero-km ingredients and sustainability.

This selection underscores Catalonia’s dedication to culinary innovation, tradition and global gastronomy—an integral part of our journey as a World Gastronomy Region 2025.

Catalonia will be the 2025 World Region of Gastronomy, a distinction awarded by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, and Tourism (IGCAT) to highlight and promote work to raise awareness about quality food and education for better nutrition and sustainable tourism.

Catalonia will host the 9th edition of the European Young Chef Award from November 24 to 28, in multiple venues across the region.

Ten young chef delegations from across Europe will compete — starting with a traditional dish representing their region, followed by an innovation challenge in front of an international jury.

The final gala will be held in Barcelona, as part of the Catalonia World Gastronomy Region 2025 programme.
