1 of 47 designers selected. Our piece sits as one of the openers to the exhibition. Standing next to Carolina Herrera, Isabel Toledo, Oscar de la Renta, many of the OG’s and peers. I can’t be nonchalant or too cool for the level of gratitude I have in these moments. My family history is artistic and community driven, but very much a history of labor and hardship. To dream of being a full-time artist and designer was not something that felt possible. It’s truly a dream to be able to create and to see the way the work takes shape out in the world. It’s my ancestors, my mom, God, family, and the love that y’all share with us that makes these historical moments possible. If you’re in Mexico City, please go see it. We contribute so much to this world and our collective creativity and storytelling is essential. Special s/o to Tanya for believing in our work!
