What a week at the PDAC Convention 2026 in Toronto.

The opening ceremony set a powerful tone. PDAC President Katharine Rees welcomed the global mining community, and Knowledge & Wisdom Keeper Ed Sackaney shared a message that resonated deeply — reminding us of our shared humanity and the importance of developing the land with respect and meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities. Parliamentary Secretary Claude Guay spoke about Canada’s future and the importance of responsible resource development to the country’s economic sovereignty.

Throughout the week, the conversations and ideas were intense and inspiring. One thing is clear: there is tremendous innovation and industry momentum building in Canada’s North, particularly across the Northwest Territories and the broader Arctic.

It was also a real pleasure to speak with R.J. Simpson and Caroline Wawzonek. The Government of the Northwest Territories is an incredible team doing important work to support responsible development and opportunity in the North.

But what always makes PDAC special is the people. Reconnecting with friends and colleagues from around the world — and meeting new ones — is one of the best parts of this remarkable gathering.🇨🇦

Our time at AME Roundup was a strong reminder that the future of mining is shaped as much by trust and relationships as by technical excellence.

WorldWise valued the depth and candor of conversations around cultural alignment, partnership models, and the real risks that sit beyond compliance frameworks.

We are especially grateful for the new connections made and for the opportunity to reconnect with friends and long-standing partners across the sector.

Most of all, we appreciated the openness with which people shared insights, challenges, and lessons learned. We also gained enormously from the deep expertise and lived experience shared throughout the sessions. These candid, practical, forward-looking exchanges are what move the industry.

Roundup reaffirmed why intercultural intelligence, trust-based partnership design, and locally grounded business models are not optional. They are core infrastructure for modern resource development.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect, exchange perspectives, and explore new approaches. The momentum in those rooms is real and we look forward to growing together.

This new initiative brings together the University of Ottawa’s academic excellence and ’s 30 years of on-the-ground experience in . 🇨🇦 Day 1 at The 53rd – 2025 is officially in the books!

What an incredible kickoff to the week. Today was filled with learning, thoughtful conversations, and a powerful sense of momentum across the Northwest Territories. I’ve already met so many bright and generous people—including Premier R.J. Simpson of the Northwest Territories and Yellowknife Mayor Ben Hendriksen MPP, GPC.D MPP whose leadership set an inspiring tone for what’s ahead.

This is also my first-ever trip , and I am deeply honored to be a guest on the ancestral lands of the Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this region since time immemorial. The warm welcome I’ve received reflects the strength and generosity of the communities that make the so remarkable.

There is immense excitement and an explosion of opportunity across the North, and I’m grateful to be introduced to it—and welcomed in—on Day 1.
Looking forward to everything the rest of the week will bring and very pleased to be a new member of the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines. ❄️✨
