Please, I kindly ask everyone to avoid unnecessary problems when entering Mexico: always make sure to go directly to an immigration officer and avoid using the automated kiosks. You have no idea how many people have lost their residency status because of this very serious mistake

When entering Mexico, make sure to have both your passport and residency card in hand. Please go directly to an immigration officer and ensure that you present your residency card. Verify that your entry stamp is marked “RP” (Permanent Resident) or “RT” (Temporary Resident).

Your passport stamp should never indicate a number of days granted for stay.

Never use the kiosks or automated machines when entering Mexico always speak directly with an immigration officer.

As we suspected, some consulates like Leamington and Oklahoma are starting to confirm the use of UMAs in their solvency requirements for 2026.

For example Oklahoma confirmed their temporary residency requirements are $4,293 USD vs $4400 in 2025.

And Leamington in Canada is requiring $5679 CAD in 2026 VS $6200 in 2025

Which means the solvency requirements may actually GO DOWN a little bit in 2026. (not up) 🙌 YAY

In the next few weeks I suspect the consulates will continue to follow suit. But we will have to wait and see until they all start replying to our questions/ or updating their sites.

However, the consulates applying UMAs is a GAME CHANGER.

Because UMAs do not increase at the same amounts that minimum wage do. In fact, depending on the exchange rates, the requirements may even go down more.

UMAs technically don't go into effect until February, which is why some consulates may not be booking residency visa appointments until then (like Las Vegas).

As I gather this info with the help of people like you and our recommended facilitators, I will update the guide here https://mexicorelocationguide.com/visa-requirements-for-mexico/

Thanks to Gaby and the amazing facilitators we work with regularly who help us keep you up to date with accurate information.

🛑Despite what some “experts” have posted about the income requirements going up in 2026, the truth is that the consulates haven’t posted their requirements yet. 😑

I’ve been getting screenshots of some facilitators saying the 2026 requirements are $5250 a month for a temporary residency. But the truth is this isn’t verified info. 🙈

It’s based on historical info thag the consulates have always used Mexico minimum wage in their formulas.

But the consulates have received new orders to use a different formula and a different solvebcy requirement moving forward. ✅

We are still waiting to see if the consulates will post the UMA requirements for 2026 or if they will continue to use minimum wage. Which has not been verified yet 😀. In the next week or so we will get some verified info 👍🏼
