A Thousand Simple Moments began as the concept we created to capture the essence of Xala that became a thread running through all of its storytelling.

We then took that idea off the screen and turned it into a book, bringing together photography and writing inspired by the experiences that make Xala what it is, from watching the sun melt into the Pacific to the first bite of a mango picked straight off the tree.

The result is a physical expression of the concept, designed to be experienced slowly, much like XALA | Costalegre, Mexico itself.

Some buildings are designed to disappear into the landscape. El Faro was designed to become part of it.

Created by Mexican artist Gonzalo Lebrija for XALA | Costalegre, Mexico, El Faro is a lighthouse, a contemporary sculpture, and an art space overlooking the Pacific. For this shoot, we focused on the relationship between the structure and the land around it, following the lines, light, and natural viewpoints already built into the experience of the place.

Our approach was simple: let the beautiful work of art shine.
