July 2026 Market RecapπŸ“Š
Wall Street spent July spinning its wheels β€” S&P flat, NASDAQ slipping β€” while Hang Seng partied (+11.5%) and KOSPI had a rough one (-18.7%). Oil stole the show with Brent surging nearly 29% on supply fears.
On the data front, NFP came in at a sobering 57K (half the estimate), but CPI actually went negative for the first time in 2026. The Fed held at 3.75%.
Earnings were a tale of two worlds: Goldman, JPMorgan, and Amazon delivered blockbusters, while Tesla and Vertiv disappointed. July β€” quietly dramatic.

πŸ”ŽAugust 2026 Preview
August looks anything but quiet.
NFP kicks things off Aug 7, CPI drops Aug 12, and then all eyes shift to Jackson Hole (Aug 28–30) β€” Chair Warsh's first symposium, with Sep 16 FOMC right around the corner.
Every word will be parsed. Earnings-wise, it's a retail gauntlet (WMT, HD, TGT, LOW, TJX) plus the one everyone's waiting for: NVDA on Aug 26. Buckle up.

Nothing brings people together quite like good food! πŸ₯
Today, the team enjoyed a delightful treat from our Chairman with a selection of pastries from Dona.
It's the little moments of appreciation that help create a positive and enjoyable workplace for everyone.
Thank you for the thoughtful gesture! 😊

A smooth year-end starts with a proper month-end closing process.
Many accounting issues happen because small errors are left unresolved month after month.
Here’s a simple month-end checklist every business should review:
πŸ“Œ Bank Reconciliation
Ensure accounting records match bank balances.
πŸ“Œ Accounts Receivable & Payable Review
Follow up on overdue balances and outstanding payments.
πŸ“Œ Expense Review
Check for missing invoices, duplicated entries, or unusual transactions.
πŸ“Œ Payroll Verification
Ensure salaries, statutory contributions, and payroll records are accurate.
πŸ“Œ Supporting Documents Filing
Organise invoices, receipts, and agreements properly for future reference and audit purposes.

βœ… A disciplined monthly closing process helps businesses maintain accurate financial records and reduces year-end stress.

Thank you to Michael Page for the invitation to attend the Malaysia Talent Trends 2026 Report: Hiring Through the Hype conference held on 23 June at Bangunan AICB.

The session provided valuable insights into the evolving expectations of today's workforce and the challenges employers continue to face in attracting and retaining talent.

One of the key findings that stood out was that the #1 challenge hiring managers face is matching salary expectations, cited by 53% of employers. At the same time, the discussion highlighted an important reality: candidates are not necessarily "wanting it all". Rather, their interest is driven by a need for clarity, trust, transparency, and consistent follow-through throughout the hiring process.

Compared to Talent Trends 2025, the 2026 report showed increased emphasis on:
βœ”οΈ Work-life balance
βœ”οΈ Competitive salary and benefits
βœ”οΈ Job satisfaction
βœ”οΈ Mental health and wellbeing
βœ”οΈ Career progression and succession opportunities

The data also revealed that:
πŸ“Š 56% of professionals would consider leaving their organisation if required to spend more time in the office.
πŸ“Š 58% feel they would be sacrificing work-life balance by accepting a new role.

For early and mid-career professionals, the message remains clear: a good salary continues to be the most important factor when evaluating career opportunities.

As employers, this serves as a timely reminder that attracting talent goes beyond offering a competitive package. Building trust, communicating transparently, providing meaningful career growth, and supporting employee wellbeing are becoming increasingly important in a competitive talent market.

Thank you again to Michael Page for organising an insightful session and sharing the latest talent market perspectives.
