Congratulations to V’s Bar that celebrated its 1st year anniversary last night!

A fund-raising event was also held by PETRA Lifestyle in conjunction with the first anniversary celebration, with a total of RM50k raised for MySkills Foundation, an NGO that helps youths at risk.

PETRA Group chairman and chief executive Datuk (Dr) Vinod Sekhar gave the opening keynote address on ‘The Big Picture of the Evolution of Technology in the New World of Work’ at the recent ETHRWorld South-East Asia HR Summit 2022.

Datuk Vinod said the need for HR managers to facilitate innovation comes from their roles as the “cheerleaders” of an organisation, as they are responsible for ensuring that employees remain satisfied within the organisation.

"Innovation is absolute, and technology keeps changing. We have to pivot and be ready to change our position. We need to prepare to innovate our own workforce so we are ready for what is ahead of us. These are critical factors in how an organisation succeeds.”

“You are the people that have to ensure the team feels positive, vibrant, needed, and valued, so that you reach a stage where they do not want to leave their jobs. When you combine all those things, they won’t want to leave. When they are happy, that’s where loyalty and money come in,” he added.

Congratulations to our Chairman and Chief Executive Datuk (Dr) Vinod Sekhar who received the Entrepreneur of The Year Award at the annual SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards 2022 (SEBA 2022) Central Grand Awards held last night at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.

The award was presented by Minister of Communications and Digital YB Fahmi Fadzil and SEBA Founder Mr Nitesh Malani.

Themed “RISE UP”, the Seventh Edition of the award presentation gala evening celebrated Malaysia’s most eminent SMEs and Entrepreneurs of 2022.

It was an evening of celebration as PETRA Lifestyle commemorated the 2nd anniversary of Roberto's 1020 at Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Roberto Guiati, President of PETRA Lifestyle thanked everyone for their continued support. “I’m very grateful and so honoured because without the support of all of you, we wouldn’t be here tonight,” he said.

For PETRA Group Chairman and Chief Executive Datuk (Dr) Vinod Sekhar, the anniversary is a milestone as it proved that with tenacity and hard work, it can sustain and come this far.

“We started this venture when Malaysia and the rest of the world were in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. While other businesses were closing down, we saw an opportunity in F&B to create something special that would go beyond the pandemic. This journey has taught us perseverance, and it has also showed that we are capable of establishing a successful, unique, authentic Italian restaurant brand in Malaysia and take it around the globe from here,” said Datuk Vinod.

PETRA Group chairman and chief executive Datuk (Dr) Vinod Sekhar said despite issues of environmental, social and governance (ESG) reaching its tipping point, some organisations are treating it as mere corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“It’s absolute nonsense. We take a good idea, we implement it, and say, ‘I’m done’. Box-ticking…that’s the most dangerous thing we face today. We don’t realise the real magnitude of the problem, or we do realise it, but don’t see how it affects us and what it’s going to do to us and our children,” he said.

Datuk Vinod said this during a panel discussion on ESG in Your Business DNA: Strategy and Innovation Driven by Leadership and People at the ESG Evolve 2022 event organised by Kexxel group yesterday.
