Ever noticed a wall that feels rough or uneven? This usually happens when tiles or stones aren't leveled properly during installation. It’s one of the many things we look for during a site assessment to ensure everything is up to code! 🛠️🏠

Spotted this on-site today. Many think this is just peeling paint, but it's actually a failed waterproofing membrane. If left untreated, water will eventually seep into the concrete and cause real damage.

Don’t wait for the leaks to start—maintenance is key.

Is your interior door gap "just right," or is it too big? 🚪📏

Homeowners often ask us why their interior doors have a gap at the bottom. It’s not an oversight—it’s a critical design feature! We aim for a standard gap of ½ inch to ¾ inch. Here is why:

✅ The Purpose:

Airflow: It’s essential for your HVAC system. Without that space, air can’t circulate properly, leading to pressurized rooms and uneven heating/cooling.

Floor Protection: It prevents your door from acting like sandpaper, scratching your flooring every time you open it.

❌ What happens if the gap is too big?
When the gap exceeds ¾ of an inch, you lose those benefits and invite new problems:

Loss of Privacy: You’ll notice more light leakage and sound traveling between rooms.

Pests: It creates an open door for insects and small pests.

Drafts & Whistling: Large gaps can cause uncomfortable drafts or even a whistling sound as air pressure shifts.

HVAC Inefficiency: An oversized gap can actually disrupt air circulation, making your system work harder than it needs to.

If your gap is too big, don't replace the door! Add a door sweep or a threshold to close that gap and keep your home sealed tight.
