A documentary by Image Farm and our Japanese partners - Kaori Mayama and Yo Umezaki, dedicated not only to a master and an artist, but also to a dear friend - Masashi Hirao.

Bonsai Bad Boy traces the spirit of Masashi Hirao, a bonsai master whose devotion to the art extends far beyond tradition. Beneath the discipline, stillness, and precision that bonsai demands lives another force within him... restless, electric, and fiercely expressive.

Drawn to energy, speed, and performance, Masashi embodies a rare tension between control and impulse, refinement and rebellion.

This documentary is a portrait of an artist who lives at both extremes, yet remains deeply rooted in the timeless soul of bonsai. In that contrast lies the beauty of his journey: an art form shaped by patience, carried by intensity, and transformed by a singular human presence.

A rebellious young apprentice sets out to save a dying 1,000-year-old Japanese art… by breaking every rule. 🔔 Subscribe and join us on this journey around t...

🕑 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
📍 Jetty 35

It’s the Chinese Hungry Ghost Month - a time when many pay homage to their ancestors. But did you know that for the Ibans in Sarawak, there is also a unique ancestral festival called "Gawai Antu"?

Unlike annual traditions, the Ibans may only celebrate Gawai Antu once in their lifetime. It is a rare, sacred, and powerful cultural gathering that honours the spirits of those who came before.

Join us to witness this remarkable story through our documentary, followed by a sharing session. Let’s learn from each other, respect each other’s heritage, and celebrate the beauty of Malaysia’s diverse cultures in harmony.

🎟 All are welcome - come with curiosity, leave with deeper understanding.

Have you ever wondered that the pepper you sprinkle on your favourite dish might originate from Betong, Sarawak? Betong boasts an ideal environment for pepper cultivation, thanks to its tropical rainforest climate, hilly terrain, and fertile soil.

White pepper, requiring additional time and effort in production, commands a higher market price, with the highest grade known as Creamy White. Meanwhile, black peppercorns are simply dried on raised bamboo platforms. Sarawak is renowned as the home of the sought-after 'King of Spice,' pepper. As Malaysia's primary producer and a top-10 global exporter, Sarawak's pepper industry plays a crucial role in the state's economy.

This is the traditional "power suit" worn by Iban warriors in the past. Historically, it was crafted using materials such as animal skins from tigers and bears, adorned with hornbill feathers. Today, we've transitioned to using sustainable materials to protect endangered species. 🌿

The Gagung, the Iban warrior attire, once instilled fear in their enemies. Today, the Ibans proudly showcase this ensemble at various events. Explore the ric...
