Hello everyone, Gong Xi Fa Cai for those who are celebrating the Chinese New Year.
The feeling of loom n gloom in regard to this industry is gone. Things are beginning to pick up but at a very slow pace. Done some small business through the year but still it could had been better. This year should proceed to do some inoculation work on my trees. I had not touch agarwood work for the last 2 years maybe I should concentrate on this work as my age is catching up, I am already 67 so not much active years left. All my trees are huge n they are mature enough.
It would be good to use different methods to stress the plant as each style does carry it own merits. A combination of different procedure can work nicely.
Rule of thumb, continuous infection to achieve continuous stresses n with nutrients feeding will get good result.

Have a good year ahead n hope your work will get what you are after.

AGARWOOD A BREAK THROUGH IN MEDICINAL WORLD.

Since Agarwood is now a internationally recognised commodity ; the world is opening up more and more in to this business. Latest technologies are surpassing the old methods to match the high demand. Few more avenues like medicinal ,herbal and cosmetic lines are opening up fast. The competetion is growing too. One need to stay very much updated on these new developments in the international arena. The production of oudh is becoming more and more important and with the rise of many markets in different usages makes it more and more viable to the cultivators.
Recently I had the opportunity to participate in a study in using agarwood oil to make medicines for many diseases .The Australian based studies are on the increase in finding the substances in essential oils in treating many common diseases . Oudh is one step ahead in producing drugs for avoiding such diseases in the first place. The break thru finding of oudh in medicinal world will definitely make agarwood a superior product for human well being. I urge the community specialists to stay awaken to these new developments.
Agarwood is believed to be the only plant that Adam was allowed to take from the garden of Eden....so one can imagine the importance of such plant to mankind.
Agarwood is creating in to being very close to the human beings with oudh tea, oudh cosmetics and even treating carcinoma. Lungs being the most sensitive part of our body accepts the ough fumes when inhaled and even revitalise the body helping the immune increase. One will be surprised to see tge latest scientific developments in this field that would no doubt be a good news to agarwood farmers and Agarwood growing countries.

All I can wish is Happy New Year! Since my last posting there hadn't been any change in the agarwood business. Many businesses in the tourist belt are also suffering. How long can they hold on?
Everyday I receive posting for sale of agarwood on FB. My business is also bad even when we embarked on incense manufacturing vide sales on the website. 2017 will also be bad if not worse off for this trade. There are tons n tons of agarwood ready for sale but there are no buyer.
Agar wood is not essential, so only when it is really needed they will get the lower quality so the good quality ones are hard to sell. This trade is almost dead. So, if you are con into going into this trade now you better think again. The Arabs can still buy by volume but they want at 50% discount, these are the people that can greatly benefit from this down turn. They have the logistics n cash to make it happen. Every countries that were dealing in agarwood had aggressively expended their planting in the last decade n now you see the glut. If it is essential product we can level off in a couple of years but it is not. Trees are still growing, fools are still planting so what will happen?
Well, miracles do happen, just have to tighten the belt n see what will happen.

This year 2016 have not been a good year for agarwood trade so far, I expect the rest of the year will not pick up either. Expect a worst year for 2017 with every business incurring slowdown, we would expect this agarwood business to be hit as well.
Those of you who had done some business this year, good for you!! But the business from the arabs had been dull this year and summer is almost over and there are very few arabs coming to Malaysia this year, lets hope they will start coming next month. The oudh markets in Bukit Bintang are barely surviving in fact some smaller ones had closed down.
Continue to do what you are doing and just hope the situation change. And soon. There are very few Chinese buyers around so see for yourself unless there are some unusual happening we will be in the doldrum.

There are many agarwood plantations both big and small in Malaysia which are pass 5 years old. These trees are matured enough to bring in some profits.
