The best leaders don't build followers. They build leaders.

That was our biggest takeaway from Mr. Kumaran Singaram's sharing session at the Finexus Group MyXaaS meet-up last week in Cyberjaya.

After a remarkable 35 year journey that included leading Cisco Malaysia and building successful technology companies, the most powerful message wasn't the milestones. It was his philosophy of developing leaders who can one day take over.

Today, he no longer runs Nimbus Cloud, Metora or Mogu AI. He deliberately developed leaders over the years to take over because his goal was never to remain the CEO forever.

His philosophy is simple: Build. Scale. Empower. Repeat.

When asked what he looks for in people, his answer was equally simple:
• Character
• Curiosity
• Integrity
• Learning Agility

One quote that stayed with us: "Experience can be taught. Character cannot."

True leadership isn't about becoming indispensable. It's about building people who can one day do an even better job than you.

Thank you Mr. Kumaran for an inspiring session and a powerful reminder that leadership is ultimately about leaving a legacy through people.
