Empowering Churches

Read my latest article on the interim pastor.

One of the resources uptapped by the Malaysian church are retired pastors. Their knowledge and experience remain largely unutilised.

On Merdeka day you may want to read my latest article (in two parts) on my ministry website. 😅
The first part is given here.

It's been many months since I last wrote an article for my ministry website. Here's the first for this year! And the first in a series of articles on the "interim pastor". Have a read and let me have your comments.
Here's the link:

Interim pastors have a unique and needful role. They are needful for Malaysian churches in transition between tenured pastors. Here's why.

I had another great opportunity to teach a course on church health. This time at the Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary (Penang). It was an 5-full day intensive course from 13-17 July.

I had 11 students from varying ages and ministry experience. I taught, engaged, and in turn learned from the students. The course was held in a hybrid form with some participants onsite and others online. This was my first time. It was somewhat challenging. Nonetheless, it was a good experience.
Thank you to MBTS for inviting me to teach on a topic I'm passionate about, and to the group of students who signed up to study a subject that's so critical to the church's life & ministry.

Suet Ling has done a great job. It's excellent material to teach children about the Creator, His creation, and our human responsibility for creation care.

My latest blog post. A lead post to later articles on Bible study discussion groups.

A failure to distinguish between the goals of a sermon and a small group Bible study is a reason why they don't impact people as much.

My latest blogpost on my ministry website. It is something on preaching - sermon predictability. Might be a little controversial, but certainly thought-provoking. Have a read and let me have your feedback.

The problem with a predictable sermon is that it takes away the listeners’ sense of anticipation for what the preacher has to say.

A new blog post in my ministry website, Empowering Churches. This was something I wrote more than ten years ago as part of the introduction for a book that never got published (not yet, anyway). It's about making a difference with our lives. Have a read. You can find the link here.

Making a difference with people who want to make a difference doing things that will make difference at a time that will make a difference.
