Penang city centre, George Town has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Today, Georgetown, well known for its cultural diversity, colonial-era architecture and street food, is a booming tourist destination and still serves as the financial centre of northern Malaysia.
Penang Road is the most important thoroughfare in Penang during the British colonial era. It was the first road to be built out of the original town mapped by Francis Light.
This prominent 3-storey heritage building is located at the junction of Penang road and Jalan Dato' Koyah. It was the printing plant of Straits Echo (1903-1986), which is one of the earliest press company based in Penang island.
