🔬 MGVI-NIBM Let’s Talk

9 October 2026 | This morning, we had the pleasure of hosting Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadiah Abu from UMBI, UKM, for our weekly Let’s Talk Science session at the MGVI Library.

In her talk, “Extracellular Vesicles: Molecular Bridges Between Health and Disease,” Dr. Nadiah shared how extracellular vesicles (EVs) act as molecular messengers between cells. She also discussed their roles in cancer, biomarker discovery, liquid biopsy and precision medicine, giving us a glimpse of how these tiny vesicles could shape the future of diagnostics and therapeutics. 🧬

The talk was followed by a lively Q&A session, with the audience raising thoughtful questions and sparking great discussions on EV research and its potential applications. 💬

MGVI-NIBM Let's Talk Science

25 September 2026 | After a brief three-week hiatus, the Let’s Talk Science seminar series returned to MGVI-NIBM this morning! 🧬🔬

We were pleased to welcome Dr. Ngoi Soo Mun, Senior Scientist in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy at Cancer Research Malaysia, who delivered a talk entitled “Therapeutic Vaccine: Immunophenotyping the Microenvironment to Assess the Realities of Immune Cell Recruitment.”

The session explored the use of immunophenotyping to better understand the immune microenvironment and assess immune cell recruitment in the development of therapeutic vaccines. Dr. Ngoi also shared perspectives from her work on DNA cancer vaccines and strategies to improve vaccine efficacy.

🛡Continuous Medical Education (CME)🧬

9 September 2026 | Yesterday , MGVI-NIBM hosted a CME session entitled Vaccine Development for Infectious Diseases,” organized by Pharmaniaga Berhad in collaboration with Sinovac Biotech (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

The session was delivered by Dr. Aiden Lee (MBBS, MSc), Associate Director of the Clinical R&D Center, Sinovac Biotech (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. His presentation provided an overview of Sinovac and explored the development of vaccines against enterovirus 71 (EV71), including vaccine-generation approaches and their potential clinical implications for hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD).

The talk concluded with an interactive Q&A session, providing participants with an opportunity to discuss the topic further with the speaker.
