How Scrum Changed A Life: An Underappreciated Project Manager

"I feel underappreciated at my company. I'm not fairly rewarded, promoted and I don't get the recognition I deserve! What am I doing wrong?"

We often get asked this question. So, we invited our founder and trainer to help answer this.

This is a true story of an undervalued Project Manager who was on the verge of giving up. She found our Scrum course and her decision to attend our training helped her to transform her situation.

In an agile development team, there is a phenomenon that has existed for a long time: Procrastination. The Scrum Guide states that the Scrum Master is the true leader of a Scrum Team. Does this mean that the SM is technically in a higher position than the Product Owner?

If your team is demotivated, showing signs of burnout, and unable to deliver the right results, there is a good chance that your company's work culture is encouraging bad behaviours.

Here are 3 toxic work cultures that you must fix before it is too late!

1️⃣ Teams Work in Silos
Across teams or departments, the way information does or does not flow can impact a company’s culture and bottom line. When employees aren’t communicating properly, it can hurt productivity and stifle ideas.

2️⃣ Lack of Direction
Employees look to managers for direction. If senior and middle management aren’t abiding by the core values you’ve set forth, employees will follow suit.

3️⃣ People Don't Trust One Another
Team members who don't trust their leaders are likely working the bare minimum and planning to get out. They're probably not innovating because they don't believe what you tell them.

High-performance and hyper-productive teams are usually created when they are empowered to make decisions within their team.

This will also help leaders to focus on more important obligations like long-term goals.

Here are 3 important tactics to help you boost your team's capability:

1️⃣ Empower Your Team
Empowered teams are usually the highest-performing and most productive. Leaders must learn to delegate decision-making so as to make time for more important obligations.

2️⃣ Give Them Tools To Grow
Provide your team with challenging but attainable assignments that stretch their current abilities and reflect their long-term goals.

3️⃣ Guide Them Where Needed
If your staff require additional support to meet the challenging assignment, ensure you are providing them the resources they need and supporting them throughout the process.

Your goal is to get that dream job/position with the ideal salary. But, you might be struggling to secure that promotion or job. 🤔 Have you ever wondered why? 🤔

Here are 3 tips to make you more valuable and employable at work.

1️⃣ Strategic Thinking
Strategic thinkers evaluate alternatives and adapt decision-making to the company's ultimate goal. Employers need managers who can decide how to make changes while keeping the firm on course to achieve its long-term goals.

2️⃣ Critical Thinking
Ask thoughtful questions to understand the problem or scenario throughly. Employers value individuals who can find the right solutions without allowing personal bias to influence their decision.

3️⃣ Solve Complex Problems
Problem solving is a basis for continuous improvement and learning. It helps us identify areas for change and improvement in order to compete and survive in a continually changing environment..
