The Companies Commission of Malaysia (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia SSM) will extend the compound reduction incentive to aid companies which are still recovering post Covid-19 pandemic.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the extension under the Companies Act 1965 began on July 1 and will run until Oct 31.

Under the incentive, companies and directors are eligible for a reduction of up to 90% of the original compound for all compounds under the Companies Act 1965.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the ongoing worldwide monkeypox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced.

The outbreak started in May, with 20 cases in Britain. It has grown to nearly 16,000 cases in 75 countries, Tedros said.

Data from the CDC in the US indicate that in one day alone, from July 19-20, case numbers jumped from 14,511 to 15,378. The current outbreak is centered in Europe.
