The World’s First Global Halal Data Pool (GHDP) is powered by the globally recognised and much coveted GS1 standard, which in turn will connect Halal Suppliers to buyers across 140 global markets. This initiative is championed by the Malaysian private sector and supported by key government agencies under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia. It is designed to elevate the standing and access of Halal producers by bridging trade or market barriers created by non-adherence to international global supply chain traceability standards. With the implementation of GHDP, accredited Halal producers of all sizes can enhance their reach to international Muslim and non-Muslim markets. Recognising the importance of managing product data and its importance in business growth, Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) spearheads the initiative to launch the world’s first data pool of Halal products. As the projects lead developer and provider, local solutions provider Serunai Commerce has been appointed to develop, coordinate, regulate and roll out the GHDP with the support and participation of JAKIM, Department of Standards Malaysia, SME Corp Malaysia and GS1.
