DON’T WAIT FOR YOUR HEART TO WARN YOU THE HARD WAY.
A blocked artery can develop gradually, with plaque building up inside the artery and restricting blood flow. What starts silently can become a serious cardiovascular problem if left unchecked.
Know the warning signs:
- Chest pain, pressure or tightness
- Shortness of breath
- Unusual fatigue
- Pain spreading to the arm, shoulder, neck, jaw or back
- Sweating, nausea or dizziness
- Reduced exercise tolerance
Your risk may be higher if you have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoke, are physically inactive, have a family history of heart disease, or are getting older.
Don’t wait for symptoms to become severe. Early assessment can help identify your cardiovascular risks and allow appropriate action to be taken sooner.
If you are experiencing new or severe chest pain or pressure, especially with shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, dizziness, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw or back, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
Your heart doesn’t give unlimited warnings. Take action before it becomes an emergency.
