These are, unfortunately, very common habits of "so called leaders" and begs the question of whether these individuals were fit for a position of leadership to begin with. If they were not, what was being done to get them ready for that position? Were competency assessments conducted? What role did mentoring and coaching play in preparing these individuals?
However, I am thankful that throughout my career and leadership journey, I was blessed with great leaders and mentors who not only shaped my professional growth but positively impacted me at a personal level too. There are many but allow me to give a shout out to a few in particular: Ku Yang Pay, Timothy Tan, Adele Chow, Dato' Peter Ng, Kit Chin, Dr KY Woo, the late Prof. Dr. Norfadzillah Hitam and YM Datuk Dr Tengku Naufal.
It is my hope that the pictorial article (for lack of a better term) below, will serve as a guide for aspiring leaders of habits to AVOID.
