Program Pemberdayaan Pemimpin Wanita dalam Sektor Pembangunan Sosial telah berjaya dilaksanakan! 🎉

Anjuran International Governance and Sustainability Centre (IGSC) dengan pembiayaan oleh KPWK melalui program PERANTIS, program ini menghimpunkan lebih 40 peserta wanita dari pelbagai pertubuhan sosial seluruh negara.

Program berlangsung dalam tiga fasa — bengkel latihan bersemuka, sesi dalam talian, dan forum utama bertajuk “Leading with Purpose: A Holistic Approach to Social Impact Development” — bagi memperkukuh kapasiti kepimpinan wanita dalam sektor pembangunan sosial.

International Governance and Sustainability Centre (IGSC) dengan sukacitanya menjemput wakil daripada organisasi Tuan/Puan untuk menyertai program ini yang dibiayai sepenuhnya oleh Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita & Keluarga melalui program PERANTIS.

🌍 Fostering Global Humanitarian Partnerships Rooted in Good Governance

On 18 July 2025, the International Governance and Sustainability Centre (IGSC) proudly hosted a series of strategic engagements in Putrajaya, with sessions held at DoubleTree by Hilton and the IGSC office.

The highlight of the day was a high-level dialogue between Dato’ Seri Mahadi Che Ngah, former Mayor of Kuala Lumpur and current CityNet Adviser on International Cooperation, and Islamic Help, a globally recognised humanitarian organisation headquartered in the United Kingdom, with operations across regions including Tanzania.

🔹 Tn Hj Zairulshahfuddin Zainal Abidin, a respected Panel of Experts member, known for his leadership in charity governance and non-profit sector development

The dialogue focused on fostering collaboration in humanitarian initiatives, sustainable urban development, and the enhancement of governance structures for charitable organisations across regions.

A separate engagement was also held with Prof. Dr. Maszlee Malik, Chairman of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS), where discussions centred around shared aspirations in faith-based development and cross-cultural humanitarian outreach.

During the visit, Mr Amjid Khan received the Swahili-translated Mushaf Al-Qur’an from Nasyrul Quran—symbolising inclusivity and the expanding global reach of Islamic humanitarian initiatives.

In a significant forward-looking gesture, Mr Heshmat, Consultant for Islamic Help, expressed the organisation’s intent to appoint IGSC as its official strategic partner in Malaysia—marking the beginning of a long-term collaboration grounded in shared values and impactful governance.

On 11 June 2025, Yayasan Hasanah , together with the International Governance and Sustainability Centre (IGSC) , had the privilege of hosting Voyage, co-secretariat of the Commission on Asian Philanthropy , for a meaningful in-person stakeholders interview in Kuala Lumpur.

This session was part of a regional engagement effort following Yayasan Hasanah’s recent appointment as a Commissioner of the Commission — a platform co-convened by the Asia Philanthropy Congress and the Institute of Philanthropy , and supported by Voyage and AVPN .

🔍 Strengthening Ethical Standards: Courtesy Visit by Muslim Professionals Forum Berhad

On 3 June 2025, we had the honour of receiving Mr. Yuzaidi Yusoff from Muslim Professionals Forum Berhad (MPF) for a meaningful courtesy visit. The meeting served as an excellent opportunity to exchange perspectives on matters surrounding Section 45 – Solicitation of Donation from Public by Company Limited by Guarantee, a topic that continues to be vital in upholding integrity within non-profit and charitable initiatives.

The discussion highlighted the importance of establishing clear ethical guidelines and reinforcing legal compliance in fundraising activities. It also underscored our shared responsibility to ensure that donation practices remain transparent, accountable, and aligned with public expectations.

🌟 Key Highlights: Action-Based Learning with INCEIF University 🌟

As part of our collaborative project with I N C E I F University, we are pleased to share the key findings from our research study, Risk Management and Compliance Practices in the Solicitation of Public Funds by Companies Limited by Guarantee (CLBGs), particularly those involved in charitable work in Malaysia. This study aligns with the requirements of Section 45 of the Companies Act 2016.

Key Highlights of the Presentation:
✅ From the 21 CLBGs analysed, over half of the entities complied with core regulatory requirements, while a significant portion were non-compliant due to reporting issues, and only a small number met governance best practices.
✅ Developed a practical self-assessment toolkit tailored to the unique needs of CLBGs.
✅ Identified recurring governance-related challenges commonly faced by charitable organisations.

This research reinforces our commitment to promoting greater accountability and transparency in the charitable sector.

We welcome all stakeholders and interested parties to join us in this ongoing journey to enhance governance standards and strengthen the impact of charitable organisations in Malaysia.
