🌟 Good News for Businesses & Consumers! 🌟
The government has made some positive changes to the Sales and Service Tax (SST) that will benefit both businesses and consumers. Here’s what you need to know:
💅 Beauty Services Exempted
Manicures, pedicures, facials, and services by barbers and hairdressers will NOT be taxed. Time to pamper yourself without worrying about extra costs!
🏢 Higher Threshold for Rental Services
The annual income threshold for businesses to pay service tax on rental services has been doubled to RM1 million (from RM500,000). This means smaller businesses can breathe a sigh of relief!
🍊 Exemptions on Fruits
Dates and mandarin oranges are now exempt from SST, joining apples and oranges. Stock up on your favorite fruits without the extra tax!
🐟 Essential Goods Remain Tax-Free
Daily essentials like rice, chicken, beef, vegetables, eggs, and local fish (e.g., selar, tongkol, cencaru) will continue to be tax-free.
💼 Relief for SMEs
These changes aim to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) by reducing their tax burden.
The government has listened to public and industry feedback, making adjustments to ensure the SST expansion is fair and manageable.
Let’s celebrate these positive updates that make life a little easier for everyone! 🎉
