We're honoured to be part of the Global Learning Week at Standard Chartered on the 6th and 7th of May. 🧑

We set up our booth across both the Bank and Global Business Services side and it was two days of great energy, great conversations and genuine connection.

At our booth, we brought the Executive Insights Tree to life where people shared their thoughts across five prompts spanning leadership and communication, AI and team collaboration. These are the themes that were at the heart of this year's Global Learning Week, and at the heart of what we do at Mango too. Watching the tree fill up with colourful mango leaves was something else entirely. 🌿

We also had our Agile Mindset game running throughout, where people could jump in solo or with their teams and get a real glimpse into the difference between a growth and fixed mindset. A little taste of what we unpack in our Agile Mindset programme and let's just say it got people thinking. πŸ‘€

To everyone who stopped by, thank you for making our tree so beautifully full and for the conversations that reminded us why we love what we do.

To Standard Chartered, thank you for having us. This partnership means more than we can say. 🀝

We left the office for the weekend and visited the beautiful island of Langkawi🌴 (for an off-site program of course 😍)

The session was incredibly insightful with leaders getting hands-on, sharing and contributing to every activity we prepared.

And the best part of training? We walked away with so much more than we came with 🌊

Off-site sessions like this don't just develop leaders. They change the energy of an entire team. Find out more about our training programs and team building today πŸ‘‡

P/S: Mark also told us his long answers below πŸ‘‡

πŸ’‘ Why did you become a trainer?
"I became a trainer to help people. And when I'm training, I can help thousands of people as part of my everyday work."
πŸ’‘ How many years have you been training?
"A decade now. Nine of those years have been here in Malaysia."
πŸ’‘ Morning person or night owl?
"I like being up in the morning but I'm generally not a morning person."
πŸ’‘ City break or nature adventure? "Nature adventure. But I really do love exploring new cities, so the real answer is both."
πŸ’‘ Street food or fine dining?
"I love exploring street food when I travel. But if I could afford it, I'd eat fine dining."
πŸ’‘ Watch a movie or read a book?
"I grew up reading lots of books and I still love to read. But I watch movies much more often nowadays."
πŸ’‘ Last thing you Googled?
"Flights. I'm planning my next trip at the moment."
πŸ’‘ Would you rather speak to 5 people who ask too many questions or 5,000 who won't pay attention?
"Five people who ask too many questions because obviously I don't mind answering questions."
πŸ’‘ One word to describe your training style?
"Engaging."
πŸ’‘ Classroom or virtual?
"Classroom. In a classroom setting, participants are more likely to be paying attention."
πŸ’‘ Weekday training or weekend training?
"Weekday because it means my participants are getting some time off work."
πŸ’‘ Strict agenda or go with the flow?
"Go with the flow. The agenda is really more of a guideline and that's to adapt to the participants I have in the room."
πŸ’‘ Biggest group you've ever trained?
"I've run team building for over 250 people."
πŸ’‘ Biggest pet peeve in a training room?
"When the audio visual equipment doesn't work. For example, when the sound's not working and I play a video and the participants can't hear it."
πŸ’‘ Most overused corporate buzzword?
"Sustainability. A lot of people use that word but not enough people are actually living it."
πŸ’‘ One skill every professional needs right now?
"Agility. Everything's changing and you need to be able to adapt."
πŸ’‘ Favourite topic or program to conduct training?
"Embracing Change. I really feel like that can make a big difference in people's lives."
πŸ’‘ One thing that's always in your training bag?
"A set of cards with topics that can be used for anything from small talk to presentations."
πŸ’‘ If you could train anyone in the world, who would it be?
"A room full of powerful CEOs. If I could change those people, I could change the world."
πŸ’‘ If you weren't a trainer, what would you be?
"I would go with my original plan. Become a professor of psychology. Or I'd be travelling the world taking photographs."

AI won't replace your team, but a team using AI unethically might.

The real challenge of AI adoption isn't the software, but instead it's embedded in your organization culture.
❌ You get "automation bias."
❌ Fear of job loss.
❌ Lack of transparency.
❌ And a loss of human touch.

Effective organizations build a culture of "Human-First" AI where they use ethical SOPs to empower their people to use these tools with confidence and clarity.

Here are the 7 pillars to consider for your team's SOP:
(1) Human Oversight
(2) Data Privacy
(3) Bias Auditing
(4) Full Transparency
(5) IP Protection
(6) Risk Tiering
(7) Continuous Literacy

Remember, you can have the smartest AI in the world, but if it doesn’t connect to your values, it won’t go anywhere.

Turn your SOP from a document into a movement today.

When was the last time a conversation with your manager made you feel like you could actually figure it out yourself?

---

Not because they gave you the answer. But because they asked you the right question at the right moment, and something just clicked.

That is what great coaching leadership feels like and most people have never experienced it at work.

The truth is, most managers were never taught how to have that kind of conversation. They were promoted because they were good at their job, not because someone showed them how to develop the people around them. So they default to telling, directing, and solving. And their teams become dependent, disengaged, or quietly frustrated. πŸ˜”

It does not have to be that way.

The GROW model, developed by Sir John Whitmore, is one of the most practical coaching frameworks any leader can bring into their day to day.

Four stages. Four sets of questions. Yet, it carries a whole different kind of conversation.

🎯 Goal – What does success actually look like for this person, specifically and meaningfully?
πŸ“ Reality – Where are they now and what is really getting in the way?
πŸ’‘ Options – What possibilities have not been explored yet? (This is where the best leaders get curious instead of prescriptive)
βœ… Will – What are they genuinely committed to doing, and by when?

It sounds simple. But in practice it changes everything, the dynamic, the trust, and the outcome.

This framework is at the heart of The Leadership Route and it is one of the core tools we build into our Lift program because we believe every leader deserves to know how to have a conversation that actually moves people forward. πŸš€

Mark, our senior trainer, flew to Singapore recently for a training session and he made the most out of every moment.

At Mango, it's never just about the training. It's the experiences in between that make it memorable too 🌿

How being "polite" almost ruined my first job.
β€” Dani

As a fresh grad, Dani thought the recipe for success was simple:
Work hard.
Be quiet.
Never "disturb" the manager with questions.

Dani thought silence was respect. Dani was wrong.

When Dani's first big project got rejected, Dani didn't ask "why." Instead, Dani spiraled and wasted days trying to read the manager’s mind rather than asking directly.

The lesson?

Asking for clarification isn't a sign of weakness or a lack of skill. It’s a sign of ownership. Managers aren't mind readers, and "perfect" work only happens when both sides are on the same page.

Don’t wait for feedbackβ€”seek it. Speak up early, clarify often, and remember: your voice is your most valuable tool, even at your first ever job.

Fail fast, learn faster.

Your AI outputs just doesn't make sense? That's because it's literally NOT giving πŸ’…πŸ»

Most people use AI like a search engine. Prompting is a skill with a method that works like magic when used accurately.

Here are the 𝟱 π—²π—Ήπ—²π—Ίπ—²π—»π˜π˜€ of a prompt that actually works:
(1) Clarity: Say exactly what you want
(2) Specificity: Focus on what actually matters
(3) Context: Give it the full picture
(4) Format: Tell it how to present the answer
(5) Direction: Guide it like you'd brief a team member

When you prompt with these elements in mind, AI stops feeling like a tool you wrestle with and starts feeling like a partner that gets you (we all want that 🀭)

Be honest. When was the last time you stopped to ask whether you were solving the right problem?

Not just the most urgent one. The right one. (Can't remember? Honestly, us too sometimes 😣)

Most teams or even leaders never do. They react, decide, and move on. Then wonder why the same issues keep resurfacing.

Good decisions start with good thinking and good thinking starts with the right questions.

At Mango, we help individuals and teams build that skill through our Problem Solving and Decision-Making program with the inclusion of the H.E.A.R.T Model.

The HEART Model is a five-step framework that takes you from identifying the right problem all the way through to making a decision you can stand behind.
